___________________________________________

Shivnya was seated under a tree, her knees drawn to her chest, tears silently tracing paths down her cheeks. She pulled out a gun from her back, her eyes hardening with anger and despair. Her grip tightened around the weapon, yet she knew it was futile. When she needed it most, her hands had betrayed her. Each tear was a reminder of her failure, a failure that had cost her the person she loved most. The memories of that fateful day suffocated her, each one a cruel reminder that he was gone. The fire of revenge in her heart grew hotter with each passing day, the urge to see his killer suffer gnawing at her sanity.
She heard someone calling her name and quickly concealed the gun, wiping her tears away.
"Shiviii, where did you go?" Aarav asked, his voice tinged with concern.
"Nowhere, I was just here," she replied in a monotone, not meeting his eyes.
"We were worried," he said, but she ignored him, her voice rising as she called out to others.
"Sanj, Divit, Aayansh, Tanmay, Yuvraj!"
"Where were you, Di?" Aayansh asked.
"I was just asking that, hoping you might have an answer," Aarav interjected, a hint of sarcasm in his tone.
"It's getting late, let's go home," she said, leading the way to the bus with everyone trailing behind her.
In the bus, she took a seat at the back, lost in her thoughts, until Abhimanyu approached.
"Can I sit?" he asked.
She silently made a seat for him. The journey back was silent, exhaustion and the late hour lulling everyone to sleep. Shivnya dozed off, leaning against the window, but soon her body began to tremble. Abhimanyu, thinking she was cold, draped a blanket over her. Despite the blanket, her shivering continued and her breathing became erratic.
"No..." she murmured in her sleep, her brow furrowed, lips quivering as though pleading. Confused, Abhimanyu gently cradled her head on his shoulder. She clutched his arm tightly, and he stroked her knuckles, whispering soothing words.
"Shh... It's okay jaan , I'm here. Nothing will happen to you, I promise. Trust me," he murmured softly.
Gradually, her breathing steadied and the shivering ceased. She settled into his arms, falling into a deeper, peaceful sleep.
When the bus reached the villa, everyone began to disembark. Abhimanyu didn't want to disturb her, but he knew he had to wake her.
"Ms. Rajvanshi, we've arrived," he said softly, touching her cheek.
" Ms. Rajvanshi "
She awoke, disoriented, and saw his hand on her cheek. Anger flared in her eyes.
"How dare you touch me?" she shouted, jerking his hand away and standing up.
"But I was just-" he started to explain, but she cut him off.
"What? Just because I talk to you politely doesn't mean you can do whatever you want!" she snapped.
"Ms. Rajvanshi, at least listen to me," he said, his voice rising slightly.
"There's nothing left to discuss," she said, storming off the bus, leaving a bewildered Abhimanyu behind.
~~
I walked briskly to my chamber, anger boiling inside me, not just at him but at myself. Why did his touch make me feel special? Why did being around him make me feel complete? I trusted him, I knew he didn't mean any harm, but I couldn't let anyone, not even him, overpower me. Or did I want him to overpower me? These confusing emotions were new to me, and I couldn't figure them out.
~~
The next day, everyone gathered for breakfast.
"Where's Shivi?" Aarav asked, a question Abhimanyu was silently grateful for.
"She hasn't come out," Nandini replied.
"No," Aarav confirmed.
"She was very troubled last night. I fell asleep immediately, but she came in late, and I don't remember much after that," Sanj said, nibbling on a sandwich.
"Beta, you should take care of your sister," Nandini admonished Sanj.
"Can't even manage one task, huh? Your elder sister would do anything for you," Janvi whispered in Sanj's ear.
"Mom, did you talk to Shivi?" Aayansh asked Kamini.
"Yes, she just messaged me. She has an important meeting and will be back tonight. Akash will take us around today. She said we should only call her if it's urgent," Kamini said, coming from the kitchen.
"Okay, Badi Maa," Sanj and Divit replied.
After breakfast, the youngsters left for trekking, enjoying the activity, but Abhimanyu felt guilty, thinking his presence was the reason for Shivnya's absence. After trekking, they returned to the villa, and Abhimanyu sat in the bus, lost in thoughts of his love, his jaan. Suddenly, he felt a hand wrap around his arm. He opened his eyes to find Janvi beside him.
"What the hell are you doing?" he asked, anger simmering in his voice.
"What?" Janvi replied, moving closer.
"Just leave," he said, starting to stand up.
"I'm not going anywhere," she said, placing her hand on his chest.
"Fine," he said, moving to leave.
"You can't just ignore me," she growled.
" Watch me," he retorted, pushing her hands away and moving to sit next to Yuvraj.
They reached the villa and everyone retired to their rooms to rest.

"Where's Dii Sanj ?" Aayansh asked, looking around.
"Is she back?" Kamini asked.
"Yes, she's in her room," came the reply.
"Oh," Aayansh said, as Shivnya entered.
"Hi Di!" the three monkeys greeted her in unison.
"Hello," she responded.
"How was the trekking, Bhabhi?" she asked Avni.
"Amazing," Avni replied.
"Yes, Shivnya Di, you should've come. We had a great time," Tanmay said excitedly.
After dinner, they were heading to their rooms when someone pulled Shivnya into a corner and pinned her on the wall.
"What the...?" she started to shout but Abhimanyu quickly covered her mouth getting closer to her but not touching her
"Shh... just hear me out. Even the court gives the accused a chance to defend themselves before sentencing. Please, just listen," he pleaded, removing his hand from her mouth only not from her hands both were looking in each other's eyes.
"Move aside and let me go," she said, trying to free herself, but his grip, though gentle, was firm shivnya looked something in his eyes which can't be explained only felt ( maybe love , possessiveness , care)
"You won't go anywhere until you listen to me," he said sternly.
"And who are you to decide that?" she retorted angrily getting panted seeing him so close to him a electric jolt felt in her body feeling him so close.
"Your lo ...," he started but trailed off.
"What? Finish your sentence," she demanded.
"Business partner," he finally said.
"I don't think a business partner should discuss anything but business," she said, finally freeing herself and walking away quickly. "Thank you, Shiv Ji, for saving me," she muttered to herself, placing a hand on her racing heart.
"Diii, what happened?" Sanj asked, concerned.
"Nothing, just go to sleep," Shivnya replied, brushing off her worry.

The next morning, everyone ate their breakfast in silence and retired to their rooms to get ready. Shivnya wasn't able to find her favorite shawl. She asked for her chachi also but she didn't have any idea. She went into the room and saw a familiar shawl which she craved in her childhood to wear .
Bharat, the house helper, was called into Shivnya's room.
"Bharat!" Shivnya shouted at the top of her lungs.
"Yes, ma'am," Bharat replied, fear evident in his voice.
"Who kept this shawl here?" she demanded, holding up the offending item.
"Ma...am, actually ma...am," Bharat stammered.
"Cut the crap and speak properly," she roared.
"Badi maam ne rakhwai thi," he said, looking down, hands trembling.
"What did you just say?" she yelled. "Repeat your words, dammit!"
"Badi maam ne," he repeated, voice shaking.
"Damit, I pay your salary, not anyone else. I am your employer, not anyone else," she said angrily. "Didn't I make it clear that no one is to enter my chamber without my permission? How did you allow someone in?"
"Ma'am, I thought," he began, but she cut him off.
"Keep your thoughts to yourself and tell me who placed this shawl here," she demanded.
"San... Sanj ma'am did," he said, head bowed.
"Get lost!" she ordered, storming into the main hall.
"Sanj! Sanj!" she yelled, and Sanj came running with Divit in tow.
"Yes, Di?" she said softly.
"Did you place this shawl on my bed?" she demanded.
"Yes, Di, but why...," Sanj started to explain.
"Who told you to do it?" Shivnya interrupted, shouting.
"Badi maa asked me to," Sanj replied, frightened.
"Go get ready," Shivnya said in a calmer voice and went to find her mother. She saw her in the kitchen.
" HOW DARE YOU TO DO THAT , WHAT DO YOU THINK YOURSELF MRS. YUVANTIKA SHAURYA RAJVASNHI , LAST TIME I THINK I MAKE MYSELF CLEAR ENOUGH THAT I AM NOT YOUR DAUGHTER AND YOU WILL NEVER GONNA BE MY MOTHER , SO DON'T EVEN TRY TO PRETEND , AND THIS SHAWL OF YOUR 'S KEEP IT TO YOURSELF . " She roared on her and throwed the shawl on the ground near her feets
" Shiviii " She said in a utter soft tone to her
" DON'T EVEN CALL ME FROM THAT NAME THIS NAME IS ONLY CAN USED BY MY LOVED ONES AND YOU ARE NOT FROM THEM MAKE YOURSELF UNDERSTAND " She said in rage and turned around to leave
" Shiviii what is this language to talk to mom " Aarav said as he only heard the last lines of her sister but shivnya ignored and walked off
" Shiviii "
After all this chaos, they went for the water activities. It was not very far from their villa; it took only half an hour to reach the Beas River. The cold winds from the water and the soothing smell of nature made them feel blissful.
"You know what, guys? I love water activities," Avantika said.
"Oh, really?" Aarav said with a smirk.
"Yes, yes!" Avantika replied excitedly.
"So, should we start?" Tanmay asked.
"You guys carry on. I won't go; I will stay with Sanj. She is hydrophobic," Shivnya said.
"No, di! Please go. I can stay here," Sanj replied.
"No, I am not going to listen to you," Shivnya said, taking Sanj's hands in hers.
"Shivnya, you can go. Anyway, I am not going because I have a sprain in my foot," Janvi said with a noted expression.
"Okay, but at least come and do zip-lining with us and sit with us to enjoy the view," Shivnya said, taking Sanj with her.
After zip-lining and a photo session with Avni and the others, it was time for rafting. They all got on the raft: Aarav and Avni in the front, Yuvraj and Tanmay behind them, and Aayansh and Divit sitting elsewhere. With only three left, Shivnya chose to sit next to Abhimanyu rather than Kunal.
During the rafting, a collision occurred between Shivnya's back and Abhimanyu's front due to strong water currents. Unaware of this, she leaned on him for support as they navigated the raft. Abhimanyu stayed close to her for protection. As they were leaving the raft, it was challenging, so Shivnya grabbed the hand in front of her and quickly exited.
Both of them stood there, holding hands, looking into each other's eyes. Abhimanyu's black orbs seemed to convey some message to her, some unheard words. His eyes had both fire and calmness, like a black hole trapping anyone who looked into them. Their eye contact broke when they heard voices and ran towards the sound.
"Diiii!"
"Diiiiiiiii!"
"Bachao, bachao!"
"Sanj!" Shivnya realized.
They ran towards the lake and saw Sanj was drowning in the water, with Janvi standing nearby but not helping. Abhimanyu helped her out of the water.
"Sanj," Shivnya said, stepping toward Sanj.
"No!" Sanj crawled back.
"Shhh, calm down. See, di is here," Shivnya took baby steps toward her, keeping her body low.
"I am so bad. Because of me, you are like this," Sanj muttered like a mad person, crawling backwards.
"What are you saying, Sanj? Come here," Shivnya was confused, taking steps forward while Sanj moved closer to the lake's edge.
"Sanjjjjj!" Shivnya shouted as Sanj was about to drown again. Shivnya quickly grabbed her wrist and pulled her to safety. By now, the others had also arrived.
"Shhhh... nothing happened. I am here," Shivnya said, hugging Sanj.
"Dii, dii, I am not weak. I can protect myself," Sanj said amidst her sobs.
"Dii, towel," Divit offered. Shivnya took the towel from him and covered Sanj.
"Yes, baby, who said you are weak? You are the bravest girl I have ever seen," she said, wiping Sanj's face. Avni also came to help dry her hair.
"Diii, I am not weak," Sanj repeated continuously.
"Baby, look at me. Who said that to you?" Shivnya asked, noticing Sanj's eyes on Janvi, who stood with crossed arms and a bored look.
"Everyone, go change clothes. We are leaving now," Shivanya said, and everyone left. She signaled Avni to go as well.
"Diii, I am not weak. I won't trouble you," Sanj said in a low voice before passing out.
"Sanj, Sanj," Shivnya shouted and gently slapped her cheeks, but it was no use.
They went to the bus, and Sanj lay down on the seat while Shivnya and Avni continuously rubbed her hands and feet to keep her warm. They reached the villa, and Divit and Aayansh carried her inside.
"Sanj!" Nandini and Moksh were stunned to see their princess in that state.
"Take her to my room," Shivnya ordered Aayansh.
"What happened to her?" Nandini asked Shivnya.
"You and Doctor Uncle go to her," she said monotonously.
Nandini, Moksh, and Divit took Sanj to Shivnya's room.
"All of you, please leave. I need to talk to my family," Shivnya said, and all the Rathores went to their rooms, giving them privacy.
"JANVI, HOW DARE YOU SAY THAT TO HER!" Shivnya shouted and went near Janvi.
"But she didn't say anything," Aarav said, stepping in front of Janvi to protect her.
"NOBODY WILL SPEAK WHEN I AM SPEAKING," Shivnya said, pushing her brother aside.
"WHAT DID YOU THINK, THAT YOU CAN SAY ANYTHING TO HER AND I WOULDN'T FIND OUT? I SWEAR, IF ANYTHING HAPPENS TO HER, YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO BEG FOR DEATH EVEN 100 TIMES BEFORE IT COMES," she raged.
SLAP!
"Manhoos, keep your mouth shut," Madhu slapped Shivnya.
"Dadi," Aarav said.
"I SAID NOBODY WILL SPEAK," Shivnya repeated
"I am a manhoos? The real manhoos is your beloved Janvi," she shouted at her grandmother.
"I have told you all not to say anything to those three. Treat me like an unwanted child if you must, but leave them alone," she shouted, leaving Aarav and Avni confused by the term "unwanted."
"You are not an unwanted child," Yuvantika said sternly but softly.
Shivnya stood in front of her mother. "Oh, really? You didn't remember me for 19 years, and now you say that? I am not even talking to you."
"Shivi, how can you talk to your mother like that?" Aarav shouted, coming near them.
"Whose mother? Your mother? Our mother? I don't have a mother," she said, stepping back with a heavy heart.
"What are you saying? She is our mother," Aarav said, moving closer, but Shivnya stepped back again.
"You all treated me like an unwanted child. You gave them all the importance. I didn't say anything, but if anyone says a word against those kids, I swear I won't care what our relationship is," she said to her grandmother with a stoic look.
"Someone like you can't be expected to do anything good," Madhu said with a smirk.
"Yes, I am manhoos," she said, turning to leave.
"Shiviii, dadi, what is going on?" Aarav asked.
"Why don't you all say something? She's being called a manhoos. What is happening here?" Aarav questioned everyone present.
"It's true, the dark secret of this house that has been hidden from you for so many years," Shivnya said with an evil laugh.
"Shivi, she is our mother," Aarav said loudly.
"Your mother, only yours. Understand that," she roared at him.
"I am your mother too," Yuvantika said with a burdened heart.
"Tch tch tch, lying without shame. Who am I even talking to? People who could abandon their child to die wouldn't know shame," she said with an evil laugh.
"Shivi, what are you saying?" Aarav asked, confused.
" Beta ," Yuvantika said, taking steps towards Shivanya.
"No, absolutely not. That word doesn't suit you, MRS. YUVANTIKA SHAURYA RAJVANSHI," she said, stepping back.
"What's the matter? Your dark truth is out in the open. Your son has found out. Your truth was bound to come out one day," she said with a filthy tone.
"Shivnya, what are you saying? Will you tell us too?" Aarav asked.
"You want to hear?" she asked, coming closer to him.
"Yes."
"Can you handle it?" she asked once more.
"Will you speak?" Aarav asked in confusion
"Your beloved mother never accepted me as her daughter. She never placed her hand on my head, never called me her daughter, SHE ONLY LOVES YOU," she raged on him. Tears escaped from Yuvantika's eyes, leaving an addled Aarav.
"Did you know your mother and father never attended a single school or college function of mine? They never even spoke to me," she said with a heavy heart controlling her tears to not stream down
"Why? Tell me, what was my crime? If I was an unwanted child, why didn't you kill me at birth? Why bring me into this world only to abandon me? If you were going to leave me, you should have left me at an orphanage, not brought me into this house," she said with a burdened heart and a gulp in her voice.
"Do you have an answer for that? No, how could you," she said, turning to leave, devastated and without the energy to fight with the family that claims to be hers.
"I do have an answer," Yuvantika said, wiping her tears. Shaurya tried to hold her wrist to stop her, but she removed his hold.
"Really, tell us. Finally, let's hear my crime, or is it just another excuse for the punishment I endured " she said and turned towards her
