AUTHOR'S POV
Thank you, abhi iski bohot zarurat thi," she said, but before she could take a sip, Aayansh knocked the glass from her hand.
"What the hell!" Abhimanyu exclaimed, concerned.
"Dii, aap kaise bhool sakti ho, aapko berries se severe allergy hai?" Aayansh scolded.
( sis how can you forget you have severe allergies from berries )
Shivnya realized and said, "Haan, mujhe bilkul yaad nahi raha."
( yeah I forgot totally )
"Mr. Rathore, aapko dhyaan rakhna chahiye," Aayansh said sternly. Before anyone could say more, Shivnya interjected, "Aayu, unhe nahi pata tha ki mujhe allergy hai." Aayansh walked away, and after a while, everyone went to their rooms.
( Mr. Rathore you should take care about all this )
( aayu he didn't knew about my allergy )
SHIVNYA'S POV
I went to Aayansh because I sensed a change in his behavior. Knocking on his door, he greeted me with, "Dii, kuch kaam hai kya?"
( Sis, is there something you need? )
"Hum kaam ke liye hi aa sakte hain tumhare paas?" I retorted sarcastically, but Aayu remained silent.
( Can we only come to you for work?)
"Aayu," I whined, urging him to open up.
"Aaj kal toh aap bas kaam ke liye hi hume phone karte hain," he remarked sternly, heading to the sofa.
( These days, you only call us for work )
"Aayu, aisi baat nahi hai," I insisted, joining him and trying to reassure him
( Aayu, that’s not true )
He took a deep breath and disclosed, "Aisi hi baat hai. Hume pata hai dadaji ne aap ko force kiya tha iss shaadi mein."
( It is true. I know Grandpa forced you into this marriage )
"Aayu," I gasped, surprised by his knowledge.
"Hum bachche nahi hain. Aap sabse kehti hain ki hume kuch na batayein, par dii, hume bhi pata hota hai ki ghar mein kuch galat ho raha hai," he explained, standing up.
( I’m not a child. You tell everyone to hide things from me, but Sis, I also know when something wrong is happening in the house )
I followed him, reassuring him, "Aayu, aisa kuch nahi hai."
( Aayu, it’s not like that )
He turned to me, his voice tinged with guilt, "Kab tak aap hum teeno ke liye apne aapko suffer karayengi?"
( How long will you keep making yourself suffer for the three of us? )
I grasped his wrist, pleading, "Aayu, aisa kuch nahi hai."
( Aayu, it’s not like that )
However, he pulled away, seizing my wrist, and led me to the sofa. He positioned himself in front of me, urging me to sit, and continued, "Aisa hi hai. Bataiye dii, ye shaadi apne hamari wajah se ki na? Dii, aap unhe DIVORCE de do. Wo aapke layak nahi hain. Wo aapka dhyaan nahi rakhenge. Dekha tha, aaj bhi unhone aapko berries wala mojito de diya tha."
( It is like that. Tell me, Sis, didn’t you marry him because of us? Sis, you should divorce him. He’s not worthy of you. He won’t take care of you. I saw today—he even gave you a mojito with berries )
I cupped his face, feeling a pang of guilt, "Aayu, aisa kuch nahi hai. Wo humara bohot dhyaan rakhte hain aur humne ye shaadi humari marzi se ki hai, buddhu."
( Aayu, it’s not like that. He takes great care of me, and I married him by my own choice, silly )
Tears welled up in his eyes as he questioned, "Toh shadi wale din aapne aisa kyu kaha ki aap shaadi nahi karengi? Aur jab kamre se wapas aayi, tab aapne haan kar di shaadi ke liye?"
( Then why did you say on the wedding day that you wouldn’t marry? And when you came back from the room, why did you agree to the marriage? )
I conjured an excuse and replied confidently, "Aree, hum nervous ho gaye the shaadi ko lekar. Aur tum teeno ko akele chhod kar nahi ja sakte the na. Phir jab andar gaye toh unhone hume samjhaya ki hum kahan tum teeno se alag ho rahe hain. Hum toh tabhi tumhare paas reh sakte hain."
( Oh, I got nervous about the wedding. And I couldn’t leave you three alone, right? Then, when I went inside, he explained that I wouldn’t be separated from you all. That’s how I’d always stay close to you )
Shocked by the revelation, he buried his head in my lap, murmuring, "Dii, aapki bahut yaad aati hai."
( Sis, I miss you a lot )
Pulling him into a hug, I whispered, "Mujhe bhi, idiot."
( Me too, idiot )
His voice trembled as he pleaded, "Dii, aap unhe divorce de do aur wapas aa jao."
( Sis, please divorce him and come back )
I comforted him, rubbing his back, "Bas, aap wapas aa jao hamare paas."
( Just come back to us )
Concerned, I asked, "Kisi ne kuch kaha hai?" Gently wiping his tears, I pressed my hand against his cheek.
( Did someone say something? )
"Dii, koi kuch nahi kehta. Hum logon se," he confessed, his voice laden with emotion. I could sense he wanted to cry it out, but something was holding him back.
( Sis, no one says anything. I just miss you )
Understanding his distress, I assured him, "Boys can cry, Aayu. You're also a human being. Those people who think men can't cry are talking nonsense." I continued to wipe his tears away, allowing him to release his emotions freely.
He sighed, "Bas, aapke bina man nahi lagta hai aur aapki tension hoti hai," tears streaming down his cheeks.
( It’s just, I feel lost without you and worry about you )
I wiped his tears, comforting him, "Tumhe meri tension lene ki zarurat nahi hai. Main bilkul theek rehti hoon aur tum kabhi bhi aa sakte ho mujhse milne."
( You don’t need to worry about me. I’m completely fine, and you can come see me anytime )
Once again, I wiped his eyes and pulled him into a tight hug.
Concerned for my happiness, he inquired, "Wo aapko khush rakhte hain?"
( Does he keep you happy? )
"Haan, baba," I replied with a chuckle.
( Yes, silly )
Relieved, he asked, "Wo aapko tang toh nahi karte ya darate toh nahi hain?"
( He doesn’t trouble or scare you, right? )
"Tumhe lagta hai tumhari dii kisi se daregi?" I responded proudly.
( Do you think your sister would be afraid of anyone? )
He detached from the hug and insisted, "Dii, aap hume promise kijiye agar kuch bhi hoga toh hume batayengi."
( Sis, promise me that if anything happens, you’ll tell me )
Pleased by his newfound responsibility, I chuckled, "Haan, baba. Aur tum hume promise karo ki tum unse ab tameez se baat karoge. Wo tumhare jiju hain."
( Yes, silly. And you promise me that you’ll speak respectfully to him from now on. He’s your brother-in-law. )
Grateful for the understanding we shared, he agreed, "Achha, thodi der yahi rukiye na. Hume aapse bohot saari baatein karni hain."
( Alright, stay for a bit. I have so much to talk about with you )
We spent some quality time together, and after a while, I returned to my room, feeling exhausted yet fulfilled.
AUTHOR'S POV
Shivnya was exhausted and wanted to sleep, but she had grown accustomed to falling asleep on Abhimanyu's chest. She looked over at him, engrossed in his work on the laptop, and she literally ordered him in a shouting voice, her impatience evident. "Abhi, come to bed. Let's sleep."
"Coming, jaan, just give me five minutes. It's important," he replied, his eyes still on the screen but his voice was utterly soft, filled with love that enveloped the room, making Shivnya's heart flutter.
She waited, trying to be patient, but after a minute, she couldn't wait any longer. She stood up from the bed, stomped over to him, and snatched the laptop from his hands. "Come to bed now, or I will throw this laptop off the terrace," she said, her voice tinged with mock anger.
Abhimanyu couldn't help but smile at her adorable threat and her adorable antics, his gaze reflecting the depth of his love and affection for her, showcasing how their relationship had flourished over time. "Fine, jaan, just chill. I'll come in a sec. You go and lie down," he said , his voice a gentle lullaby filled with unwavering love and devotion. tender melody that washed over her, his words like a soothing caress , he was trying to placate her.
She narrowed her eyes at him. "Trust me, begum," he added with a smirk.
Shivnya gave him a bored look but went back to bed with a sulking face. Within a minute, Abhimanyu joined her, dimming the lights. Both lay there, waiting for the other to fall asleep, but Shivnya was impatient. She sat up, looking at him intently.
Abhimanyu remained still, pretending to be asleep just to see what she would do. Shivnya came closer and pinched him lightly, then began tapping his bicep repeatedly then laid back. But impatient she took the support of her elbows to peek and check if he was asleep or not, her curiosity getting the better of her , she even waved her hand in front of his face to check if he was faking it.
Satisfied that he was asleep, she carefully laid her head on his chest, wrapping her arms around him and tangling her legs with his. She gently took his hand and placed it on her back, craving the warmth and security it brought her. Abhimanyu smirked internally, savoring the moment and the intimacy.
Her face nuzzled against his chest , her heart finding solace in the steady rhythm of his breath. With a soft sigh of contentment, she murmured, "I can't sleep without you anymore."
Gazing up at his serene expression, Shivnya felt an overwhelming surge of affection, a profound sense of gratitude for the man who had become her anchor in life's turbulent seas. Drawing closer, she pressed a tender kiss to his cheek, a silent testament to the depth of her love.
Snuggled against his warmth, Shivnya found herself intoxicated by the scent of his perfume, a fragrant embrace that enveloped her in a cocoon of comfort. At that moment, she knew that he was home.
His fragrance became yet another precious treasure she wished to steal, alongside the lighter that held sentimental value for them both.
Abhimanyu was stunned and overjoyed but continued pretending to be asleep, not wanting to break the moment. His heart raced with the realization of how much he loved her.
Shivnya, thinking he was still asleep, murmured softly, "I know I couldn't say all these things to you when you're awake, but I am saying them now while you are asleep."
She took a deep breath and began, "Since I first saw you, I’ve felt this strange feeling pulling me toward you. No matter how hard I try, I can’t stay away from you. I never even felt this way with Advaith. Advaith… Advaith Bahl… I met him in high school. He was a very good friend of mine. But with time, feelings for him grew in my heart. But you know, doctor uncle says it’s not love, romance, or passion. It’s just my anxious attachment because of my mental trauma, depression, and guilt."
"I fear that this love I feel for you might just be another form of anxious attachment. But whatever it is, you are mine, and you will stay mine. I won’t let you go, even if it costs me my life. But… there’s one fear that haunts me… everyone I’ve loved has left me. Whether it was… the ones who brought me into this world, or the child who died because of me, or Advaith, who is still in a coma because of me. You know, everyone thinks I killed my aunt. But that’s not true. I didn’t kill her. Someone else did…"
With that, her voice trailed off as she finally succumbed to sleep. Abhimanyu was left stunned, holding her tightly, processing everything she had revealed. His heart ached for her pain and fears, and he resolved to stand by her side, loving and protecting her through everything.
He gently kissed her forehead, his eyes filled with unshed tears. "You're safe with me, jaan. I'll never let anything hurt you again. I love you more than you could ever know. You’re not just my love; you’re my addiction, my reason to live. Without you, I’ve stopped even imagining life," he whispered, even though she couldn't hear him. He held her closer, vowing to be her strength and shield.
𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐍𝐄𝐗𝐓 𝐃𝐀𝐘
Both Abhimanyu and Shivnya woke up and got ready for the day. Shivnya went first, as Abhimanyu had to finish some work on his laptop that he couldn't complete last night because of the time they spent together.
Everyone gathered in the hall, exchanging cheerful greetings before taking their seats for breakfast. The aroma of freshly cooked food filled the air, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. Suddenly, Nalini's voice cut through the morning chatter. "Isn't Abhimanyu coming?"
"Actually, Bua ji, he's working on something on his laptop," Shivnya said, emerging from the kitchen with a tray of steaming parathas.
"What kind of work is this? He should be having breakfast with the family on time," Ranveer’s strict tone silenced the room, his disapproval clear.
"Actually, Baba, Abhi was saying he has some important work, and he was up late working on it last night too," Shivnya tried to shield Abhimanyu, her voice a mix of concern and urgency.
Before Ranveer could respond, Nalini stood up, her face stern. "What did you say?" Her eyes narrowed, confusion and irritation evident in her expression.
All eyes turned to her, puzzled by her sudden change in demeanor. "What name did you just call Abhimanyu by?"
"Abhi," Shivnya replied, her innocence palpable.
Nalini's face contorted with anger. "Riddhimaa, teach your daughter-in-law something. She is now a daughter-in-law of the Rajput family. She shouldn't call her husband by his name. Doesn’t she know this?"
The room fell silent. Everyone knew Nalini’s temper, and they chose to ignore her outburst. However, seeing that nobody was taking her seriously, she continued, "Call your husband by 'Rana sa.' Learn from your mother-in-law; she always calls Bhai sa by 'Maharaj.'"
Shivnya’s smile faded. She looked at Riddhimaa, who whispered to Ranveer, "Ran… Maharaj, please say something." Ranveer opened his mouth to speak, but before he could, Abhimanyu entered the room in his crisp white kurta pajamas, his presence commanding attention.
With a confident voice, he said, "Yes, Bua ji is absolutely right. Shivnya, you should call me 'Rana sa.'
