ABHIMANYU'S POV
She grinned, listening to my words. I could easily understand what she was thinking just by looking at her-after all, she is my wife. I took her hands in mine, and both of us entered the haveli. She was literally staring at me. We made eye contact with everyone as we headed to the pooja area of our haveli. shivnya went to the ladies' side, and I stood with the men.
Tanmay teased, "Bhai, waise aaj aapko Maa ki zarurat nahi padi ye jewelry pehenne mein?" I glared at him.
( Brother, looks like you didn't need Mom's help wearing this jewelry today? )
Nearby, I overheard Radhika saying, "Bhabhi, aapne itni acchi odhni kaise bandh li? Hume toh ab tak Mummy ki help chahiye hoti hai."
( Sister-in-law, how did you tie this odhni so nicely? I still need Mom’s help for that )
Shivnya looked at me with a small smile and replied, "Actually, hume toh bilkul bhi nahi aati. Wo toh aapke bhaisa ne kara hai."
( Actually, I don't know how to at all. Your brother did it )
"Sachi?" Radhika asked in disbelief.
( Really? )
"Ansh, kuch sikho Bhaisa se. Aap toh kabhi help nahi karte ho humari," Radhika taunted Ansh.
( Ansh, you should learn from Brother here. You never help me )
As Dadaji lit the holika (bonfire for Holi), each couple took turns performing the pooja. When it was our turn, Shivnya poured water around the holika while I held the pooja thal (plate with ritual items). We offered puffed rice and a dry coconut to the flames.
When Shivnya bent down to touch my feet, I stopped her, saying, "Aapki jagah waha nahi, humare dil mein hai. Aap hamare feet kabhi touch nahi karengi." She looked at me with love and disbelief shining in her eyes.
( Your place isn’t there, it’s in my heart. You’ll never touch my feet )
Clearing my throat to get everyone’s attention, I said, "Aaj humari biwi ka pehla festival hai humare saath, aur unhone aaj pehli baar raj poshak pehni hai, toh unke liye..." I clapped, and two butlers came in with trays covered in cloth.
( Today is my wife’s first festival with us, and she’s wearing a royal outfit for the first time, so for her... )
"Kya hai ye, Abhimanyu?" Papa asked. I unveiled plates full of cash, took a bundle, and went near Shivnya. She looked at me in shock as I smirked and warded off the evil eye by passing the money from her feet to her head.
( What is this, Abhimanyu? )
Mom and Dad smiled, and Shivnya shyly looked at me. Putting the cash back on the tray, I announced, "Ye paise gareeb logo mein baant dijiye." Buaji looked sour, but others smiled.
( Distribute this money among the poor )
Then, we began applying colors to each other. Shivnya came near me with a red color in her hand and mischievously applied it to my face. I looked at her in disbelief as everyone paused to watch. She looked at me, then at the family, raising her brows questioningly.
Tanmay said, "Actually, Bhabhi, Bhai ko Holi khelna bilkul pasand nahi hai."
( Actually, Sister-in-law, Brother doesn’t like playing Holi at all )
I glared at him, and Shivnya looked at me apologetically. "Aapko pasand hai Holi khelna?" I asked. She nodded hesitantly. I stepped toward her, and she stepped back. Wrapping my arm around her, I pulled her close and said with a smile, "Toh hume bhi pasand hai, jaan. Lagaya jitna color lagana hai."
She smiled, and everyone resumed playing.
( Do you like playing Holi?b)
( Then I like it too, love. Put as much color as you want )
Leaning close to her, I rubbed my cheek against hers and whispered, "Happy Holi, jaan."She smiled and shyly pushed me away. Yuvii and Tanmay then approached with color, but when I glared, they grumpily applied color to Shivnya’s feet, saying, "Happy Holi, Bhabhisa"
"Aree, aap dono hi toh keh rahe the ki hum aapki behen jaise hain," Shivnya said, applying color to their cheeks
( Oh, weren’t you both saying I’m like your sister? )
"Aap humare liye humare Aayu aur Divi jaise hi hain." With moist eyes, she said, "Thank you both for standing by me, especially you, Yuvraj, for yesterday."
They hugged her, saying, "Ye toh humari responsibility hai, Bhabhisa."
( For me, you’re just like Aayu and Divi . Thank you both for standing by me, especially you, Yuvraj, for yesterday. )
( This is our responsibility, Sister-in-law )
Tanmay asked, "Kal kya kiya tha Bhai ne aisa jo Bhabhi aapko specially thank you bol rahi hain?"
( What did Brother do yesterday that Sister-in-law is thanking him for specifically? )
"Jal kukde, chup," Yuvii replied sternly.
Shivnya smiled at both of them.
( Jealous fool, shut up )
"Abhimanyu, tum chalogey bahar pooja karne ke liye?" Dadaji asked. I glanced at Shivnya, who had hope in her eyes, and said yes.
( Abhimanyu, will you come outside for the pooja? )
As we were leaving, Shivnya pulled me aside. I smirked as she looked around nervously. "Kya hua, jaan? Aap, bole toh nahi jayenge hum," I teased.
( What happened, love? Say the word, and I won’t go )
"Shhh, close your eyes," she instructed. I looked at her in disbelief.
"Close your eyes, Abhi," she repeated, sounding annoyed. I closed my eyes, feeling her hands near the back of my ear. When I opened my eyes, we were so close that even air would need permission to pass between us. Gazing into her hazel brown eyes, I asked, "What are you doing?"
"Kala tika," she said meekly.
( An evil-eye mark )
"Huh?" I asked, surprised. She nervously excused, "Maa ne kaha tha."
( Mom told me to )
"Maa ne aise lagane ke liye kaha tha?" I chuckled, caging her with my hands.
( Did Mom say to apply it like this? )
"Chhodiye hume aur jaiye. Sab aap ka wait kar rahe hain," she said, trying to break free.
( Let me go and leave. Everyone is waiting for you.)
"Par humara..." I began, but she placed her finger on my lips and said, "Jaiye, Baba." I kissed her forehead softly, tempted, and left for the pooja, stealing a final glance at her before leaving.
( but I.. )
(Go ,dear )
SHIVNYA'S POV
He went from there, leaving me alone in this big haveli again. I didn't want to stay here, so I went to our chamber and video called Sanj, Aayansh, and Divi.
Sanj, pouting, said, "Diii, aapko humari bilkul yaad nahi aati hai na.".
( Dii, you never miss us, do you? )
"Haan, sahi keh rahi hai Sanj. Diii, aap humein aur bhai ko sirf kaam se related hi call ya message karti thi," Divit added, sounding a bit hurt.
( Yes, Sanj is right. You only ever call or message us about work )
"Aisa kuch nahi hai, I miss you guys a lot," I replied earnestly.
( It’s not like that at all! I miss you guys a lot )
Then I added, "Aacha sunno, hum ek sec abhi aaye," and placed the iPad on the table near our bed. I went over to the dressing table, and suddenly, I felt someone’s hand on my waist. I wasn’t startled because I recognized his scent immediately.
( Listen, I’ll be back in just a second )
He hugged me tightly, snuggling his face into the crook of my neck, his touch sending a shiver down my spine.
"Aap itni jaldi kaise aa gaye?" I asked as he kissed my neck softly, filling me with butterflies.
( How did you get back so early? )
"Hum humari jaan ke bina ek pal bhi nahi reh sakte," he murmured against my skin, making me feel ticklish.
( I can’t stay a moment without my love )
"Par pooja aur baaki sab?" I stammered.
( But the pooja and everyone else? )
"Pooja ho gayi aur baaki sab ka jab mann karega, wo aa jayenge. Ab no more questions, let me hug my jaan properly," he said authoritatively.
( The pooja is done, and everyone else will join whenever they like. No more questions; let me hug my love properly )
My gaze drifted to the iPad, where Divi, Sanj, and Avni were watching with amused expressions, while Bhai and Aayansh peeked from behind, laughing quietly with their mics muted. I felt my face flush with embarrassment.
"Abhimanyu," I said, trying to catch his attention as he continued to softly kiss and tease my neck, making me feel weak and dizzy.
"Abhi, hatiye," I said, more firmly.
( Abhi, move aside )
He finally looked up and asked, "Kyun jaan? Aapko hamara..." But before he could finish, I pointed toward the iPad.
( Why, love? You don’t want my...)
He looked at them and then whispered, "Why are all of them on a video call?"
"Actually, I was missing them, so I called them," I said guiltily, looking down with a sad face.
"On a video call?" he asked in disbelief. I nodded and went closer to the iPad.
Sanj teased, "Jaanu, aap humein at least bata toh dete, hum aapko disturb nahi karte."
( You could have at least told us, Jaanu; we wouldn’t have disturbed you )
"Sanj," I said, annoyed, while Abhimanyu sat beside me, facing away from the screen.
Divi added mischievously, "Waise, Maa aur Badi Maa ko batayenge toh mazza aayega."
( By the way, it’ll be fun to tell Mom and Aunt about this )
"Don’t you dare do that," I warned.
"Toh humare gifts?" Divi asked playfully, and Abhimanyu smirked.
( So, our gifts? )
"What the hell, guys! Humesha bribe?" I said, irritated.
"Thik hai, hum Maa ko batane ja rahe hain," Sanj said, pretending to stand up from her chair as everyone laughed, even Abhimanyu, though he tried to suppress his smile.
( Alright, we’re off to tell Mom )
"Fine, I’ll order the things for you guys on your birthday. Avni, if you also want something, message me. But don’t even think of telling anyone," I said with a sigh.
"Love you, Jaanu," Sanj said with a mischievous grin.
"Sanj, one more time, and I’ll definitely cancel your order," I warned, annoyed.
Divi smirked, "Diii, mere liye wo wali car."
( Dii, I want that car )
"Shut up, both of you, and cut the call," I snapped, ending the call.
AUTHOR'S POV
"Aapko bohot hasi aa rahi hai, sab aapki wajah se hua hai ye," Shivnya said, her eyes a mix of amusement and irritation as they locked onto Abhimanyu's.
( You’re laughing a lot; all of this happened because of you )
Abhimanyu, with a teasing grin, moved closer and pulled her towards him. "Jaan, humein kya pata tha vo video call par hai," he said, his laughter echoing in the room.
( Love, how was I supposed to know they were on a video call ? )
Shivanya, still exasperated, gently removed his hands from her waist and guided him to sit down. "Haan, aapko kabhi kuch nahi pata hota hai. Ab baithiye idhar, hum ye jewelry aur ye turban hata dete hain."
( Yes, you never know anything. Now sit here, let me remove this jewelry and turban )
Undeterred, Abhimanyu placed his hands on her lower waist again, pulling her nearer. "Aap naraz kyun ho rahi hai?" he asked, looking up at her with a playful smile.
( Why are you getting annoyed? )
Shivnya sighed deeply, her irritation melting a bit as she removed his shawl. "Kyuki unke gifts dekhe hai aapne? Woh har saal kisi na kisi baat ko lekar mujhe blackmail karte hain."
( Have you seen their gifts? Every year, they blackmail me over something or the other )
She carefully removed the brooch and attempted to untie the turban. Abhimanyu chuckled softly, "Toh koi baat nahi, ek baar humare liye bhi."
( Then it’s alright, do it just once for me too )
As she untied the turban, she noticed his hair damp with sweat. "Hum tissue late hai," she murmured sympathetically.
( Let me get a tissue )
Before she could step back, Abhimanyu gently tugged the odhni that was stuck under her skirt, handing it to her with a mischievous glint in his eyes. "Aapki odhni hai toh," he said.
( It’s your odhni )
Shivnya's irritation softened into a shy smile as she took the odhni and began to dry his hair.
Leaning in to unhook his necklace, their breaths mingled, and she muttered in frustration, "Ye hook kyun nahi khul raha hai."
( Why isn’t this hook opening? )
Suddenly, she slipped and fell onto Abhimanyu, who had subtly maneuvered her. She gripped his shoulders tightly and yelped, "Aaaauch!"
As she tried to rise, she winced in pain. "Aahhh," she realized her hair was tangled in his necklace. "Humare baal," she groaned, looking at Abhimanyu, who was staring at her in a mesmerized daze. She lightly slapped his chest, "Abhi!"
( my hairs )
Abhi snapped out of his trance, a soft smile playing on his lips. "Ek sec, ek sec jaan, aaram se," he said.
( One sec, one sec love, carefully )
They began to rise together, eyes locked. Rather than letting her stand, he positioned her more comfortably on his thigh and gently began disentangling her hair.
He removed her odhni slowly, his hot breath brushing her face, sending shivers down her spine. She noticed the intense darkness of his eyes and the intoxicating scent of his perfume, which she loved. He carefully freed her hair from the necklace. Shivnya remained still, captivated by the concern on his face.
When he was done, their eyes met, and Abhimanyu leaned in closer. But Shivnya, her heart racing, gently pushed him back and said, "We should change and sleep."
Abhimanyu nodded, mentally cursing himself for moving too quickly without her permission. They both changed into their comfortable clothes and lay down, each in the other's embrace, thinking the other was unaware that the other person knew about it.
𝐍𝐄𝐗𝐓 𝐃𝐀𝐘
Everyone was in the garden celebrating Holi, but Shivnya was sitting alone in one corner. She missed playing Holi with her siblings and didn't want to insist her husband join since he didn't like the festival. After applying colors to everyone, she sat using her phone when suddenly someone blindfolded her from behind. She touched his hands and exclaimed, "Ye toh bhai ke haath hain, par..."
( These feel like my brother’s hands, but… )
The hands released her, and she turned to see her brother smiling brightly. She hugged him tightly, and then her other siblings appeared one by one.
"Bhai!"
"Sanj!"
"Divi!"
"Aayu!"
They all hugged her, and she asked, "Tum sab yaha kya kar rahe ho?"
( What are you all doing here? )
"Kyu, tujhe khushi nahi hui humein dekh kar?" Aarav asked with a grin.
( Why, aren’t you happy to see us? )
"I am really very happy to see you guys. Pata hai, I was missing all of you so much," she replied, beaming.
"Toh humein pehle bolna chahiye tha na, hum pehle aa jaate," Divi said playfully.
( Then you should have told us earlier; we would have come sooner )
"Par tum logo ko bulaya kisne yaha?" Shivnya asked, surprised.
( But who invited you all here? )
"Bhai ne. Kal raat bhai ka phone aaya tha aur unhone insist kiya ki hum aa jaye, so here we are," Avni explained.
( Brother did. Last night he called and insisted that we come, so here we are )
Shivnya looked over at Abhimanyu, who was standing near the bar.
"Aree dii, ab color toh lagwao," Divi said, and they all began putting colors on each other.
( Hey, sis, now let us put color on you )
"Aap log sab logo se milo, hum abhi aaye," Shivnya said and walked over to Abhimanyu, who was chatting with Ansh.
( You all go and meet everyone, I’ll be back )
As she approached, Ansh stepped away to give them space. Shivnya took Abhimanyu's hand, and he looked at her, puzzled but lovingly. He pulled her closer, wrapping his arms around her as he sat on the table.
"What happened, love?" he asked
She looked into his eyes and said happily, "Thank you for doing so much for me."
"Maine kya kiya, jaan?" he asked, pretending to be clueless as he gently removed the colors applied by her siblings on her face.
( What did I do, love? )
"Aapne Aayu aur sabko yaha bulaya humare liye. Aur ek hum hain, humne aapko kal color laga diya," she said, a hint of guilt in her voice.
( You invited Aayu and everyone here for me. And here I am, I put color on you yesterday )
"Maine kaha tha na, jo aapko pasand hai, woh humein bhi pasand hai. Ab chaliye, sab aapka intezaar kar rahe honge," he said with a small smile, not wanting to let her go but knowing she wanted to play Holi with her cousins.
( I told you, whatever you like, I like it too. Now come, everyone must be waiting for you )
"Hmmm," she nodded, and they both left. Abhimanyu returned to the bar while Shivnya headed back to the garden. As she approached, colors suddenly flew at her from both sides, and she shouted, "Aaaa, Aayu!"
"Kya hua, dii?" Divi asked mischievously.
( What happened, sis? )
"Ruko, tumhe toh hum abhi batate hain!" she warned, and they all started chasing each other.
( Wait, I’ll show you now! )
Meanwhile, Yuvi was chasing Sanj, but soon they joined in. They threw colored water on each other, laughing and playing for over an hour.
"Dii, jiju Holi nahi khelenge?" Divi asked as they all sat down after their fun.
( Sis, won’t brother-in-law play Holi ??)
"Unhe Holi pasand nahi hai," Shivnya said casually, glancing towards him.
( He doesn’t like Holi )
"Par unke chehre par toh color laga hua hai," Aayansh noted mockingly.
( But there’s color on his face )
"Woh bhi maine hi lagaya hai," she said proudly.
( That too, I applied )
"Aur aapko lagane diya?" Avni asked in disbelief. The conversation stopped as Abhimanyu approached with a waiter carrying a tray of glasses. He took one and handed it to Shivnya, saying, "Jaan, ye lijiye." The waiter served the others, who started drinking.
( and he let you apply the colour?? )
( love this is for you )
"Thank you, abhi iski bohot zarurat thi," she said, but before she could take a sip, Aayansh knocked the glass from her hand.
( thank you Abhi this was needed )
"What the hell!" Abhimanyu exclaimed, concerned.
