SHIVNYA'S POV
As I stepped into the bathroom, I was struck by its sheer size and pristine white theme. I removed my clothes and stood under the shower, letting the water cascade over me. The sensation was more than just physical; it felt like the water was washing away the remnants of yesterday's fears, touching my very soul. I closed my eyes, allowing memories of the previous day to flood my mind. Not the haunting ones, but the tender moments with Abhi.
He had taken such immense care of me, never leaving my side for even a second. He handled his family with such ease, all while being there for me. The trauma had reduced me to a fragile state, yet he managed it all without a single complaint. When I tried to apologize, he curtly refused, insisting it was his responsibility. And here I was, feeling inadequate, just as his bua had said. But I resolved to become the woman who truly deserves him because losing him is not an option. For that, I would do anything. Abhi had not only occupied my mind but also my heart and soul. I found solace in his embrace, a place where I wished time could stand still.
I emerged from the bathroom with the bathrobe to find Abhimanyu waiting with a beautiful blue kurti. He approached me, handing over a box. "This box has everything you might need, and here's the kurti for today," he said.
I glanced at the kurti and then at him, nervously scratching my neck. "Can I wear a saree today?" I asked.
He looked at me with surprise, his eyes narrowing. "Did someone say something to you?"
"No," I quickly replied.
"Then why?" he inquired.
"I just want to wear one," I said meekly.
"Okay, wait here. I'll call someone to bring a saree for you," he said in an authoritative tone and left the room. His reaction left me perplexed.
I looked inside the basket he had brought. It contained everything I could need, from makeup to innerwear. Abhi returned a minute later with a beautiful yellow saree and handed it to me.
"Are you angry with me?" I asked tentatively.
He came closer, cupping my cheeks gently. "Jaan, remember one thing always. I can never be angry or upset with you," he said softly. I nodded, feeling reassured as he headed to the bathroom to take a shower.
When he emerged, he was dressed in a black shirt and black pants. He walked over to me and helped drape the saree around me. His touch was gentle and careful, making sure everything was perfect. The blouse was designed to cover my scars, reaching just to my waist.
After we both were ready, Abhimanyu said, "Let's go to the haveli. Everyone must be waiting."
As he spoke, memories of my actions with Yuvraj from the previous day and the harsh words of his aunt flooded my mind. I didn't want to face them, but I knew I had to. Why couldn't I just live my whole life in this room with this wonderful person? Mahadev, give me strength.
"Jaan?" Abhimanyu's voice brought me back to reality.
"Huh?" I was startled.
"What happened? What are you thinking about?" he asked, coming toward me.
"Nothing... Can I hug you?" I asked meekly. He looked at me with surprise before enveloping me in his arms.
"Jaan, how many times have I told you? You need to learn to order me around, not ask for things. You are my wife as well as my life," he said gently.
I found calmness in his embrace, his heartbeat a soothing melody that I could listen to forever. He caressed my hair, and kissed the top of my hairs and I reluctantly pulled away, saying, "Let's go."
"Are you sure?" he asked, his eyes filled with concern.
"Yes," I replied, giving him a reassuring but fake smile.
He took my hand and led me through a tunnel that looked like it was from the 1900s, its old stone walls echoing our footsteps. He was walking in front of me and I was walking behind seeing and touching the walls of the tunnel and suddenly a thought came in my mind . The tunnel would have been a perfect make-out spot for a king and queen.
"Do you want to do it?" he smirked.
"Huh?" I was shocked. Had he read my mind?
"What do you mean?" I asked, trying to be in anger.
"What did you understand?" he replied with a grin. Before I could respond, we arrived at the back door of the haveli and entered.
We both entered the hall, and everyone looked shocked. Maa came near me and asked, "Ab tabiyat kaisi hai beta? Abhimanyu ne bataya tha ki tum low feel kar rahi ho."
( how are you feeling now child??? Abhimanyu informed us that you were feeling low )
"Maa, hum bilkul theek hai," I assured her. Suddenly, Aniruddh came running to me, shouting, "Princess!"
( maa I am fine now )
I took him in my arms and said, "Hi, my Prince Charming!"
"Kal raat to aap mujhe apne saath kyun nahi lekar gayi?" he asked. I glanced at Abhimanyu, who was standing with a poker face.
( why didn't you took me with you last night )
"Sorry, baby, meri tabiyat thodi kharab thi," I said with an apologetic expression.
( sorry baby i was feeling unwell last night )
"Ab thiiiiiiik hai?" he asked, trying to check my temperature with his hand. I laughed at his antics but also noticed his grandmother standing there with a grumpy face. I replied, "Haan, baby."
( are you fine now ?? )
"Maa, aaj hum kuch banaye?" I asked.
( maa should I prepare something )
"Par beta," she started to object, knowing I didn't know how to cook.
( but child )
"I know how to bake a cake," I said and headed to the kitchen.
ABHIMANYU'S POV
I was shocked to see such a transformation in my wife. I went to Maa and asked authoritatively, "Maa, kisi ne Shivnya ko kuch kaha tha?"
( Mother, did someone say something to Shivnya? )
Maa looked at me horrified and said, "Kyun? Shivnya ne kuch kaha?"
( Why? Did Shivnya say something? )
"Mtlab kisi ne kuch kaha hai... Kisne kaha aur kya?" I asked, demanding an answer.
( So, someone did say something... Who said it, and what was it? )
She explained that Buaji had insulted my jaan. Without listening to Maa's full explanation, I went straight to Shivnya. I saw her measuring flour while Aniruddh sat on the kitchen platform, eating an apple. I went near and carefully moved her hair to the side, letting it cascade over her shoulder. Then, I wrapped my arms around her waist, resting my hands on her belly. She was stunned for a second, but as my hands wrapped around her, she sensed my warmth and asked, "What happened?"
"Aapne humein bataya kyun nahi?" I said softly, snuggling my face into the crook of her neck.
( Why didn’t you tell me? )
"Kya nahi bataya?" she said hesitantly.
She didn't seem uncomfortable, so I continued.
( What didn’t I tell you? )
"Aapko jo Buaji ne kaha tha," I murmured against her skin.
( What Buaji said to you )
"Kya kaha tha?" she asked nervously.
I felt she wasn't going to tell me, so I looked up and saw Aniruddh's grumpy face, with his arms crossed in his black and white dungarees.
( What did she say? )
"Humein Maa ne bata diya," I said, hoping she would finally tell me.
( Mother told me everything )
"Kya bataya?" she asked with a smile.
( What did she tell you? )
Her hair was getting in her way, so I tucked it behind her ear and said, "Jaan, kyun cover up kar rahi ho unke liye? Humein pata hai unhone kaise aapke liye bola tha." I turned her to face me.
( Love, why are you covering up for her? I know what she said to you )
"Ohhh, you really got to know about that. It's okay. Wo badi hain humse, humne waise unki baat ko dil par nahi lagaya," she said with a fake smile. I could easily read my wife's reactions.
( Ohhh, you really found out about it. It’s okay. She’s older than me, so I didn’t take her words to heart )
"Kitne perfectly jhooth bolne ki koshish kar rahi ho aap," I said with a chuckle.
( How perfectly you're trying to lie )
"Acha, theek hai baba. Humein laga tha bura aur humein pata hai hum aapke layak n..." she began, but I interrupted her.
( Fine, alright! I did feel bad, and I know I’m not worthy o... )
I placed my finger on her lips and came closer, putting my hands on her back. "Shhh, hum aapke alawa kisi aur ke layak nahi hain. Hum aapke liye bane hain aur aap humare liye."
( Shhh, I'm not worthy of anyone but you. We’re made for each other )
"Abhi, Aniruddh dekh raha hai," she murmured softly, looking at him.
("Abhi, Aniruddh is watching.")
I glanced over; he had a pouting face in anger. Smirking, I said, "Haan toh? Hum apni legally and spiritually wedded biwi se keh rahe hain."
( So what? I’m talking to my legally and spiritually wedded wife )
A very enchanting smile spread across her face. I moved closer, and she kept looking into my eyes. We could hear each other's heartbeat and feel each other's breath. I supported her back and slowly leaned in, grabbing some flour with my other hand.
Her breathing quickened as the distance closed. She closed her eyes, and I smiled internally. I leaned near her cheek and placed a soft and tender kiss on it. She didn't open her eyes, so I kissed her again and slowly moved down near her jawline and started to suck it. She placed her hands on my bicep to support herself.
She opened her eyes in shock as we heard, "Bhai, yeh kitchen hai!" Yuvii shouted in embarrassment and turned his face.
( Brother, this is the kitchen! )
This idiot had to come right when we were finally sharing a moment.
Shivnya pushed me away and closed her eyes in embarrassment. Then she picked up Aniruddh in her arms and left.
I thought of sweetly applying some flour to her face, creating a playful moment, but this idiot had to come at that very moment. As Shivnya was leaving, Yuvii smirked at her and said, "Sorry, Bhabhi, for disturbing your precious and alluring moment."
I turned toward him and threw the flour in my hand, saying, "Couldn't you come five minutes later, rascal?"
"Bhai!" he whined as the flour hit his face.
I walked out of the kitchen and saw everyone sitting at the dining table. I went to my jaan and sat beside her.
Yuvii came out, covered in flour, and everyone burst into laughter. Maa shouted, "Kya kar raha tha tu kitchen mein jo aisa haal bana kar aaya hai?"
( What were you doing in the kitchen to come back to this state? )
"Wo, Badi Maa, galti se," he murmured, glancing at me.
("Uh, Aunt , by mistake...")
Shivnya saw the exchange and then looked at me. I shrugged my shoulders. She took my hand, noticing some flour on my forearm, and glared at me. I just smiled back at her.
Yuvii went to his room to change, and we all had our breakfast. Afterward, we gathered in the home garden, enjoying family time. The elders were sitting in one group, and we were in another.
As usual, Aniruddh was sitting in the Shivnya's lap, playing with her saree and hair. And I was sitting next to her.
"Yuvii, sach mein flour apne aap laga tha ya?" Ansh teased him as Aniruddh stood in her lap, with Shivnya helping him balance.
( Yuvii, did the flour really just get on you by itself? )
"Kya Bhai, aap bhi mazze le rahe ho," Yuvii whined.
( Brother, you’re teasing me too )
Suddenly, Aniruddh kissed Shivnya on the cheek.
My anger flared. How could someone else kiss my jaan? She is mine, and this kid had the audacity to kiss my wife. Shivnya was shocked and immediately looked at me.
Bhabhi said in a strict tone, "Aniruddh, aisa nahi karte. Pehle permission lete hain, phir kisi ko kiss karte hain."
( Aniruddh, you shouldn’t do that. You should ask for permission first before kissing someone )
"Par Bade Papa ne toh Princess ko kiss karne se pehle permission nahi li thi," he said innocently.
( But uncle didn’t ask for permission before kissing Princess! )
As soon as the words escaped his mouth, Shivnya closed her eyes tightly in embarrassment, and everyone turned to look at us.
I tried to make things normal, so I said, "What? She is my wife."
AUTHOR'S POV
"We know, Bhai, but at least look around and see who's present before doing that," Ansh said with a chuckle, and everyone laughed.
"Yes, Ansh Bhai is right," Yuvraj agreed.
"Why, did you get scolded for the same reason?" Tanmay smirked, and everyone laughed again. Shivnya thought to leave from there, so she made an excuse.
"Woh, mera phone... call karna tha mujhe."
( Oh, my phone... I needed to make a call )
"Yeh raha phone aapka, Bhabhi," Yuvii handed her the phone with a grin.
( Here's your phone, Sister-in-law )
"Thank you," she murmured with a fake smile.
"Inka phone tere paas kya kar raha tha?" Abhimanyu asked, raising an eyebrow.
( Why do you have her phone? )
"Actually, jab aapne mujh par flo... matlab, jab main kitchen se aa raha tha, toh Bhabhi ka phone wahi dekha so le aaya apne saath," Yuvii explained.
( Actually, when you flo... I mean, when I was coming from the kitchen, I saw my Sister-in-law's phone there, so I brought it with me )
"but mera ek aur phone hai," Shivnya tried to make another excuse to leave.
( But I have another phone )
"Ohhh," all of them said with a grin.
"Bhai, aapne wo 'Chori Chori Chupke Chupke' song sunna hai," Tanmay said, smirking and mocking us.
( Brother, have you heard that song 'Chori Chori Chupke Chupke'? )
"Don't you think you're talking a lot?" Abhimanyu said in a stern voice, glaring at him.
"Main apna phone lekar aati hoon," Shivnya said and left. Abhimanyu followed her, calling out.
( I'll go get my phone. )
"Jaan, suno."
( Love, listen )
"Jaan."
( Love )
"Shivnya Abhimanyu," Nalini said in a stern voice, and they both halted.
"Aaj shaam ko Holika Dahan hai, aur tum RANA SA ho toh tum taiyaar rehna. Aur jaise ki tumhari ye shadi " secret hai ", toh pehle hum ghar mein pooja karenge, phir humein bahar jaake bhi ek baar pooja karni hogi. So, Shivnya ghar mein hi rahegi aur hum sab bahar jaayenge," she said, mocking Shivnya, remembering the previous day's events. And instructing the things in a stern voice.
( Tonight is Holika Dahan, and since you are RANA SA, you should be prepared. And since this marriage of yours is a 'secret,' we’ll do a prayer inside the house first, then we have to do another prayer outside. So, Shivnya will stay home, and the rest of us will go outside )
"Aap sab bahar jaye, hum ghar mein Shivnya ke saath hi rahenge," Abhimanyu said authoritatively with a poker face.
( You all can go outside; I’ll stay here with Shivnya )
Nalini stood up in anger and shouted, "Bhuliye mat, aap RANA SA hai Rajasthan ke."
( Don’t forget, you are the RANA SA of Rajasthan )
"Hum inke pati bhi hai," Abhimanyu replied in a high-pitched voice. Shivnya came near him
( I am also her husband )
"Inke pati aap baad mein bane the," Nalini said, glaring at Shivnya.
( You became her husband later )
"Mujhe nahi lagta aapko mujhe batane ki zaroorat hai ki mujhe kya karna chahiye aur kya nahi. Hum yahan ke RANA SA hai..." Abhimanyu said in rage, but before he could complete his sentence, Shivnya clutched the hem of his shirt and shook her head slowly, indicating he should not speak more. Yuvraj and Tanmay also came near them.
( I don’t think you need to tell me what I should and shouldn’t do. I am the RANA SA here... )
"Dekh rahi ho Bhabhi, shaadi ko do mahine bhi nahi hue hain aur inki baatein itni maani jaa rahi hain," Nalini said, mocking Shivnya.
( Look, Sister-in-law, it hasn't even been two months since the marriage, and her words are already being given so much importance )
"Hum tumhara parivaar hai, na ki yeh, na jaane kya 𝐋𝐀𝐋𝐀𝐂𝐇 raha hoga iss shaadi ke peeche iska," Nalini shouted, blaming Shivnya. But before she could complete her sentence or anyone could interrupt her, Yuvii shouted, "Bua Ji!"
( We are your family, not her. Who knows what GREED she might have behind this marriage )
He continued angrily, "Humari Bhabhi ke baare mein aise bolne ki himmat kaise hui aapki? Wo humari sirf Bhabhi nahi, humari maa barabar hain."
( How dare you speak about our Sister-in-law like that? She’s not just our Sister-in-law; she’s like a mother to us )
"Ab tum teeno iss aayi hui nayi ladki ke liye hum par chillao ge?" Nalini said with a heavy heart.
( Now all three of you will shout at us for this new girl who has just arrived? )
"Pehli baat toh wo humari Bhabhi hai aur doosri baat yeh ki humein humare Dadaji ne chillane ke alawa bhi bahut kuch sikhaya hai. Aap humse badi hain iska matlab yeh nahi ki hum aapki saari baatein sunne aur maane," Yuvii said angrily. Abhimanyu grabbed Shivnya's wrist and dragged her towards their private chamber in anger.
( Firstly, she’s our Sister-in-law, and secondly, our grandfather taught us more than just shouting. Just because you’re older than us doesn’t mean we have to listen and agree to everything you say )
