ABHIMANYU'S POV
I woke up and i was shocked to finally find my girl sleeping in my arms. It felt like a dream come true, her legs and hands sprawled all over me. This was technically the second time she was so close to me in bed. Her head rested on my chest, and I couldn't help but smile as I looked at her. Gently, I touched her forehead to check if her fever had gone down, but it was still burning hot. Carefully, I moved her head, hands, and legs off, covered her with the blanket, and placed a pillow beside her to prevent her from falling. Then, I headed to the kitchen.
"Kya chaiye rana sa?" Jaya aunty asked.
( What do you want, Rana sa? )
I replied, "Ice, water, and a bowl.
She handed me the items just as mom noticed and asked, "Itni subah subah kya karega iska?"
( What will he do so early in the morning? )
"Mom, actually Shivnya ko bahut tez fever hai, toh unke liye le ja raha hoon," I explained.
( Mom, actually Shivnya has a high fever, so I’m taking it for her )
"Mai bhi chalti hoon tumhare saath," she said.
( I’ll come with you )
Both of us went to the room where Shivnya was still sleeping. Mom touched her forehead and said, "Abhimanyu, Shivnya ko bahut tez fever hai. Tum hame ye do aur jao freshen up ho jao."
( Abhimanyu, Shivnya has a very high fever. You give me this and go freshen up )
She took over, and I went to the bathroom.
When I came back, I saw mom diligently placing a wet towel on Shivnya's forehead. "Maa, hum kar lenge, aap jaiye," I said.
( Mom, i’ll manage; you can go )
She stood up, and I took over. "Tum Shivnya ko utha do, hum unke liye kuch khane ke liye late hain," she said as she left.
( Wake Shivnya up; I’ll bring her something to eat. )
Softly, I touched Shivnya's cheek and whispered, "Shivnya, wake up."
"Biwi uth jaiye, subah ho gayi," I said, teasingly.
( Wife, wake up; it’s morning )
"Jaan... Shivviiii."
She tried to open her eyes and, in a sleepy voice that sounded like a baby's, asked, "What time is it?
"7 AM," I replied.
"Let me sleep 5 minutes more," she mumbled, her baby voice bringing a chuckle to my face as she shut her eyes again.
"Nahi, nahi, uthiye jaldi se. Maa aapke liye khane ke liye la rahi hain, uske baad doctor uncle aayenge aur aapko check karenge," I said.
( No, no, wake up quickly. Mom is bringing you food, and then the doctor will come to check you )
She got up with a jerk.
"What?? But why??" she shouted.
"Kyuki aap ko fever hai, jaan," I said.
( Because you have a fever, jaan )
"Haan, toh main theek ho jaungi," she replied, annoyed.
( Yes, but I will be fine )
She felt the water on her face and touched her forehead, which was wet. She looked at the table and saw the water and towel. "Aap kar rahe the?" she asked meekly.
( Did you do this? )
"Nahi, maa kar rahi thi," I replied casually.
( No, mom did it )
"Par unhe kisne bataya?" she asked in shock.
( But who told her? )
"Hum jab paani aur ice lene gaye the toh unhone dekh liya, toh unhone kaha hum karenge itne mein hum freshen up ho gaye," I explained.
( When we went to get water and ice, she saw me and said she would manage it in the meantime while I freshened up )
She whined, "Par unhe takleef kyun di aapne."
( But why did you give her trouble ? )
Maa came in and said, "Aapne bachon ke kaam mein kaise takleef."
( what trouble doing for the kids? )
She sat near Shivnya with a tray that had a bowl of khichdi. Shivnya looked at the bowl and then at me. "Chaliye, kuch kha lijiye, phir dawai bhi leni hai," maa said, making a spoonful of khichdi and holding it in front of Shivnya's mouth.
( eat something, then you have to take your medicine )
"Hum kha lenge," Shivnya said meekly.
( I will eat )
"Muh kholiye," maa insisted.
( Open your mouth )
Shivnya opened her mouth, and maa fed her.
SHIVNYA'S POV
" Bss ab or nahi," I said, glaring at the spoon with a mix of frustration and nausea.
( please no more )
"Shivnya, you have to eat, beta," his mother said gently, her voice laced with concern.
"Please, I don't like khichdi. I'll puke if I eat more," I pleaded, turning to Abhimanyu with my most convincing puppy-dog eyes. His expression softened, and he said, "Rehne dijiye maa, ye sachme vomit kar deti hai. Aapke haath se kha liya, wahi bohot badi baat hai."
( Leave her be, mom; she really does vomit. It’s a big deal that she even ate from your hands )
His mother looked puzzled, her brow furrowing. "Tujhe kaise pata ki Shivnya vomit kar deti hai? Tumhari toh arranged marriage hui hai aur recent days mein khichdi bani bhi nahi hai ghar mein."
( How do you know Shivnya vomits? You’ve just had an arranged marriage, and khichdi hasn't been made at home recently )
Abhimanyu looked at me in shock, and I glared at him in annoyance.
"Rehne de, mat bta," she chuckled, shaking her head. "I am leaving. Beta, kuch bhi chahiye ho toh hume batana," she said and left the room.
( Leave it, don’t tell. I’m leaving. Beta , let me know if you need anything )
I sighed in relief, then turned to Abhimanyu with a playful pout.
"Aapko zaruri tha kehna?" I teased.
( Did you really have to say that? )
"Flow flow mein bol diya," he grinned, shrugging.
( I just said it in the flow )
"Chaliye, aap rest kijiye," he said, tucking me in with the blanket. I closed my eyes, trying to find some peace amidst the chaos.
( Let's get you some rest )
"Shivnya," a voice interrupted my attempts at sleep, soft but persistent.
"Shiviii," it continued, a little louder this time.
"Uthiye, dekhiye hum kya laaye hai." I groggily opened my eyes to see Abhimanyu standing with a tray, a mischievous glint in his eyes.
( Wake up, see what I brought )
I sat up, rubbing my eyes. "Ye kya hai?"
( What is this? )
"Kaaadha," he announced proudly. I recoiled in horror, inching back on the bed.
( It’s herbal tea )
"Kiske liye?" I asked, dreading the answer.
( For whom? )
"Aapke liye," he said with a bright smile, moving closer. I jumped off the bed, protesting, "Nahi, hum dawai le lenge. Injection bhi chalega, par kaadha nahi!"
(It’s for you. ,
No, I’ll take medicine. I’ll even take an injection, just not that herbal tea!)
"Biwi, ruko, you have to drink this," he insisted, a hint of amusement in his voice.
( Wife, wait; you have to drink this )
"Nooo!" I darted around the bed, avoiding his grasp, my heart pounding with the thrill of the chase.
"Shivnya," he called, exasperated, as I bolted towards the door. "Abhimanyu, nahi!" I yelled, sprinting down the corridor, only to bump into Yuvi
"Bhabhi, kya hua?" he asked, startled, looking between me and his brother.
( Sister-in-law, what happened? )
"Tumhare bhai pagal ho gaye hain!" I exclaimed, and we both paused, catching our breath.
( Your brother has gone crazy! )
"Yuvi, rok apni bhabhi ko!" Abhimanyu shouted, approaching us. I saw my chance and offered, "Yuvi, you can take any of my cars for one day."
( Yuvi, stop your sister-in-law! )
Yuvi's eyes lit up, and I dashed downstairs while he grinned, clearly tempted by the offer.
"Shiviii, wait!" Abhimanyu called, his footsteps echoing behind me.
"Nahi, I won't drink that kaadha!" I hollered, skidding to a stop near the couch, desperation creeping into my voice.
( No, I won't drink that herbal tea! )
"You have to drink this, jaan," he commanded, his tone firm and authoritative.
Desperate, I spotted his mother and ducked behind her. "Maa, dekhiye na, apne bete ko. Hume kaadha pila rahe hain," I pleaded, hoping for her intervention.
( Maa , look at your son. He’s forcing me to drink that herbal tea )
Abhimanyu approached with the glass, his eyes softening with concern. "Shivii, it will help you. Come here.
"No, I am not going to drink this yuck," I declared, still hiding behind his mother.
"It's not yuck. It's good for your health," Abhimanyu said calmly, his patience is remarkable.
"Whatever, I am not going to drink this," I shouted, glaring at him with all the stubbornness I could muster.
"You are going to drink this," he insisted, stepping closer. I darted to the dining table, my mind racing for an escape.
"I will puke it! Remember the last time you forced me to eat something, and I puked immediately?" I tried to reason with him, my voice tinged with desperation.
"Shivuuu, come here," he said, exasperated, advancing on me. I saw his father and cried out, "Baba!" I dashed to hide behind him, feeling a momentary sense of safety.
"Baba, dekhiye na inhe," I said, my voice a mix of desperation and irritation, clinging to the hope that he would support me.
( Baba, look at him! )
"Abhimanyu," his father said sternly, halting him in his tracks, his authoritative tone silencing the room.
"Dad, inhe idhar bhejiye," Abhimanyu protested. I stuck my tongue out at him, feeling a childish sense of victory.
( Dad, send her here )
"Hoo kya raha hai yaha?" Baba asked, puzzled.
( what is happening here? )
Before Abhimanyu could speak, I blurted out, "Baba, he is forcing me to drink that yuck liquid," pointing accusingly at the kaadha.
Baba inspected the situation, then declared, "Why are you forcing her? If she doesn't want to drink, she won't."
I beamed, feeling victorious and invincible.
"You don't smile, papa. She is suffering from a high fever, that's why I'm doing this," Abhimanyu explained, his concern evident and genuine.
Baba sighed, looking at me apologetically. "Ohhhh, then I am not going to say anything."
( Oh, then I won’t say anything )
"Shivnya beta, aapko peena hi padega," he said gently, patting my head with a reassuring smile.
( Shivnya, dear, you have to drink this )
"Baba, nahi. Wo bahot ganda aur kadwa hota hai," I protested stubbornly, my voice almost whining.
( No, Baba, it’s very bitter and disgusting )
"Nahi hai," Abhimanyu insisted, advancing again. I bolted once more, stopping when I saw his dadi. She looked at me with a stern expression, and I realized how chaotic the scene had become
( It’s not )
I backed away, only to bump into Abhimanyu again. He held my hand firmly, sensing my unease.
"Humare aate hi sab chup kyu ho gaye?" Dadi asked, approaching us with curiosity and concern.
( Why did everyone go quiet when i arrived? )
"Kya ho raha tha yaha?" she inquired, her tone a mix of curiosity and authority, her eyes scanning the room.
( What was happening here? )
"Kuch nahi, dadi. Aapki bahu kaadha nahi le rahi thi," Abhimanyu explained, his voice calm but firm. Baba joined us, standing protectively behind me.
( Nothing, Dadi. Your daughter-in-law doesn’t want to drink the herbal tea )
"Kya hua beta, achanak?" Baba asked gently, his eyes filled with concern.
( What happened suddenly? )
I remained silent, feeling the weight of everyone's eyes on me, the room growing quiet.
(I stayed silent, feeling the weight of everyone’s gaze.)
"Ye humare aate hi chup kyu ho gayi?" Dadi asked, her eyes narrowing slightly as she tried to understand.
( Why did she go silent when we arrived? )
"Beta, aap humse darte hai?" she asked gently, her tone softening. I glanced at Abhimanyu, wondering how she knew. Only he understood my fear of dadi, stemming from my own past experiences.
( beta , are you afraid of me ?)
"Dadi, aapse koi kyun darega? Aap toh kitni chill ho," Tanmay interjected with a chuckle, trying to lighten the mood.
( Dadi, why would anyone be scared of you? You’re so cool! )
"Iska matlab aap humse darte ho. Beta, hum Madhu ki tarah nahi hai," she reassured, surprising me with her insight. I looked at Abhimanyu, who nodded encouragingly
( So you’re scared of me ? I am not like Madhu )
Dadi came closer, patting my cheeks with a gentle hand. "Beta, uski taraf mat dekhiye. Usne hume kuch nahi bola hai. Humne aapko bachpan se dekha hai aur Madhu ko bhi. Hume sab pata hai. Isliye hume aur humare parivaar ko waise hi samjhengi. Par beta, hum log waise nahi hai. Hum aapse utna hi pyaar karte hain jitna Abhimanyu, Avni, Yuvi aur Tanmay se karte hain. Humare liye humare bachhe ek saman hain," she said.
( Don’t look at him. He hasn’t said anything to me. I’ve seen you and Madhu . I understand everything. I love you just as much as we love Abhimanyu, Avni, Yuvi, and Tanmay. You are all our children )
Her words, her soft gestures, and her sincere tone made me feel relieved. I nodded, a smile spreading across my face.
"Achha, chalo ab ye kadha bhi toh peena hai," Maa said, and I shook my head vigorously, my resolve still firm. I thought to run away from there but it's gone in vain because Abhimanyu is already holding my wrist he looked at me and grinned.
( Alright, now you have to drink this herbal tea )
ABHIMANYU'S POV
She sat on the couch, and I knelt in front of her, holding out the glass of kaadha. Her nose wrinkled in distaste as she eyed the concoction.
"Shivnya, just gulp it down quickly. You won't have to taste it much," I urged, trying to sound as gentle as possible.
Her eyes narrowed at me, anger flaring in them. My fierce kitten. "If I puke, it's on you, Mr. Rathore," she warned, sniffing the kaadha and pulling a face
"Please, Mr. Rathore, I don't want to drink this," she pleaded, her voice soft and sweet, almost melting my resolve. But I knew better. This was for her health.
"You have to drink this, Shivnya," I insisted, my voice firm and eyes unwavering
"Aadiyal," she muttered under her breath, closing her eyes and taking a hesitant sip.
( stubborn )
"Jaya, bring some honey," Papa called out, his voice carrying authority.
"Yuck," she exclaimed after barely swallowing a few sips. "I can't drink any more of this. Pass me that honey," she demanded, and I quickly handed it over. She took a generous spoonful, grimacing.
"Beta, ab aap jakar aaram kijiye," Maa said softly, her voice soothing
( Child, now you go and rest )
"Hum aap sabse kuch kehna tha," Shivnya said, her tone suddenly serious.
( I wanted to say something to all of you. )
"Haa, bolo beta," Papa encouraged, curiosity lighting his eyes.
( Yes, speak, beta )
"Yuvi, Tanmay, tum dono andar jao," she instructed calmly
( Yuvi, Tanmay, you both go inside )
Once they left, she took a deep breath and began, "Aap sabko humare bachpan ki bohot saari batein pata hain. Humare janam ke baad se lekar aaj tak hume kabhi maa baba ka pyaar nahi mila. Isliye hume pata bhi nahi tha ki maa baba ka pyaar kya hota hai. Ek aisa pyaar jiske liye hum ek waqt par taras gaye the, jo sabko shayad bohot asani se mil jata."
( You all know many things about my childhood. From the time I was born till today, I never received the love of a mother and father. That’s why I never knew what parental love felt like. A kind of love that I once longed for, one that maybe others get so easily )
Her voice wavered, and I saw tears welling up in her eyes. "Par humne apni zindagi ke 27 saal ek anath bache ki tarah rahe hain, wo bhi tab jab hum humari ankho ke samne unhe dekhte the. Humare janam se lekar aaj tak kisi ko bhi apne maa baba nahi keh paaye hain. Chachi chachu ne hume bohot pyaar kiya hai, par hum kabhi unhe apne maa baba nahi keh paaye. Par aaj laga ki shayad hume humare maa baba mil gaye hain. Hume laga tha ki hume kabhi maa baba ka pyaar nahi milega par aaj..." Her voice broke, and a tear streamed down her face.
( But I lived the first 27 years of my life like an orphan, even though I saw them in front of my eyes. From my birth till now, I was never able to call anyone my mom or dad. My aunt and uncle loved me a lot, but I was never able to call them my parents. But today, I feel like I might have finally found my mother and father. I thought I would never get parental love, but today...)
Before I could move, Mom enveloped her in a warm hug. "Shhh... bache, hum hain na tumhare maa baba. Yeh pura parivar tumhara hai. Hum aapke hi toh maa baba hain," she soothed. Shivnya clung to her, sobbing softly, and I felt my heart ache for her.
( Shhh... child, we are here as your mother and father. This entire family is yours. We are your parents )
Papa gently caressed her head. "Haa beta, aajse aap hume maa baba hi bolengi. Aap humari beti hain, hum aapke maa baba hain," he declared.
( Yes, child, from today onwards, you will call us maa and baba , You are our daughter, and we are your parents )
Maa wiped her tears and added, "Shhh... no tears. Aaj kitni khushi ka din hai. Hume humari bahu aur beti dono mil gayi."
( Shhh... no tears. Today is such a happy day. We've gained both a daughter-in-law and a daughter )
Everyone smiled, moved by the heartfelt moment. Shivnya whispered, "Aur hume humare maa baba."
( And I’ve found my parents )
"Or dadi dadu," Dadi chimed in, her eyes twinkling
( And grandparents too )
"Chachu chachi bhi," Chachi added with a grin.
( And aunt and uncle too )
"Wo bhi," Shivnya agreed with a soft smile.
( That too )
Mom and Dad hugged her again, and I joined in, wrapping my arms around all three of them. Gradually, everyone else joined the group hug.
Tanmay and Yuvraj burst in, grinning. "Humare bina hi family hug?" they joked, joining the embrace.
( A family hug without us? )
We all laughed, the warmth of the family surrounding us.
As we sat down, Yuvi grinned mischievously. "Bhabhi, waise mujhe car milegi na?"
( Sister-in-law, by the way, will I get the car? )
"No car for you, Yuvi. Chachi, I told him to stop Shivuu, but he didn't because of the car," I complained.
"Bhai, please," Yuvi begged.
"No, Yuvi," Chachi said firmly.
Yuvi turned to Shivnya with a puppy face. "Bhabhi, par aapne toh kaha tha na?"
( Sister-in-law, but you said so, right? )
"Tumne help hi nahi kari apne bhai ko rokne mai," she said with a smirk. Suddenly, she clapped a hand over her mouth and bolted. "I feel like puking!"
( You didn’t help me in stopping your brother )
"Abhimanyu, go and take care of her," Maa instructed urgently.
I dashed to our room and found her coming out of the bathroom. "Abhimanyu," she murmured, her voice trembling slightly.
"Aap thik hain na? Yaa hum doctor uncle ko bulaye?" I asked, concerned lacing my tone and she hummed as she came near me.
( are you fine or should I call doctor ??? )
"Can I hug you?" she asked hesitantly, her vulnerability taking me by surprise.
"What? ... Huh... yeah... you can hug me. You can hug me whenever you want, you don't have to ask," I said, my heart swelling with love. She stepped closer and hugged me, resting her head on my chest. I wrapped my arms around her waist, holding her gently.
"Thank you, Abhimanyu," she whispered.
I looked down into her eyes. "For what?"
"Because of you, I finally have my parents," she said, a radiant smile lighting up her face. My heart soared with happiness.
"Not because of me. It was your decision to marry me, begum," I replied, chuckling softly. She laughed and nestled closer, and I held her tight, savoring the moment.
