ABHIMANYU'S POV
After dinner, we retreated to our room. Both of us changed into more comfortable clothes, and I watched as Shivnya eagerly took the gift box, her eyes sparkling with excitement. She began arranging the jewelry in her closet, but soon came out, whining softly, "My drawer is full now. There's no place to keep more of them, and there are still some left."
I couldn't help but chuckle at her innocent frustration. "Toh kya hua, begum? Aap humare drawer mein rakh lijiye. Rukiye, hum abhi khali kar dete hain."
( so what happened wifey you can keep in my drawer , i will clear the drawer now )
"But... then you'll have a problem," she said, her voice laced with hesitation.
"For me, the only problem is when my wife is troubled. As long as you're happy, I have no worries," I replied, leaning closer to her, my breath mingling with hers. Her cheeks flushed slightly, and I started emptying my drawer so she could place her jewels there.
As she continued placing her jewelry, she counted each piece aloud. When she placed the last piece, she exclaimed, "There are a total of 142 pieces of jewelry!"
"Yes," I said, hiding a smile. I had planned for 143 pieces, and the final one was still with me. Taking out the last piece, a delicate bracelet adorned with small diamonds and suddenly she asked with furrowed brows and a small pout her pouts could kill me in nanoseconds
" But why are they 142 ? "
I said, "I'll explain later. First, open this second gift."
She looked at the box and said, "You've already given me such a big gift. I don't need anything more."
Ignoring her protest, I opened the box, revealing the bracelet. "You didn't need to do this," she murmured as I gently tied it around her wrist.
"Do you like it?" I asked, watching her face closely.
"I love it, but you really don't have to do all this," she replied, her fingers tracing the intricate design of the bracelet. The two small hearts entangled with each other symbolized how beautifully two lives could intertwine.
Leaning close to her ear, I whispered, "You're my wife, and I can gift you anything I want. You should never refuse." Her shy smile sent a thrill through me, and I could feel the warmth of her happiness.
I moved towards the bed, and after a while, she joined me, taking her medicines. As we lay down, she maintained a respectful distance, but I longed for the day when this gap would close, and we would sleep in each other's embrace, feeling the comfort of each other's presence
Her soft breathing eventually lulled me into a peaceful sleep, my dreams filled with the hope of a future where we would share not just a bed, but our hearts and souls, completely entwined, just like the hearts on her bracelet.
AUTHOR'S POV
As the sunrise both of them woke up and began their morning routine. As usual, Abhimanyu helped Shivnya with her saree. They went downstairs together, where Ridhimaa warmly called out, "Aajao beta, breakfast lag gaya hai." They all settled down to eat in silence. shivnya had an important meeting today, so she needed to go to the office. She hesitated to bring it up and nervously clutched the hem of Abhimanyu's shirt. He looked at her, raising his eyebrows in question. She whispered, "Baat kijiye na."
( come child have breakfast )
( please ask them na )
They had already discussed this, and Abhimanyu had insisted she should ask herself. He believed in encouraging her to open up to the family.
"Humne kaha na, aap khud puch lijiye," he replied softly.
( i said it ask yourself )
"Aap humare pati hain. Aapne wada kiya tha ki aap hamesha hume support karenge," she said with narrowed eyes.
( you are my husband you promised me you will support me every time )
" Yes so i am doing that . you talk to them if something happens i will handle it," Abhimanyu reassured her with a smile.
Ranveer noticed their exchange and asked, " What happened Shivnya beta , is there something happened ?"
" Actually, Papa, Shivnya wants to say something to all of you," Abhimanyu said, looking at Shivnya encouragingly.
" Say, Shivnya," Ranveer encouraged.
" Say it beta , what happened ?" Ridhimaa added gently.
" Actually, I have an important meeting today and I have to go to the office. So if you all allow me...... can I go? " Shivnya asked nervously.
"Beta, this is your home. I told you that you are just like Avantika for me. You can go wherever you want, whenever you want. Just inform Riddhima before leaving, she gets worried.," Ranveer said with a smile.
"Ranveer," Ridhimaa said, a hint of exasperation in her voice, making everyone laugh.
"Means i can go ?" Shivnya asked once more to be sure.
" yes child ," Ridhimaa confirmed.
After breakfast, Shivnya and Abhimanyu went to their room to change into formal clothes. shivnya wore a beige coat and pants with a white shirt, while Abhimanyu chose a blue coat and pants paired with a white shirt. Shivnya noticed the vermilion in her hairline and quickly concealed it with some strands of hair. She also made her mangalsutra more discreet. They both left for work in separate cars.
At the office, Shivnya discreetly switched her ring to her other hand before diving into a day full of meetings. She had been away recently, so she was busy catching up, finally wrapping up her work at 7 pm.
Meanwhile, Abhimanyu struggled to focus on his tasks, his thoughts drifting to Shivnya throughout the day, which hindered his productivity.
Shivnya reached home around 8 pm. Her mother-in-law, Ridhimaa, was concerned because she didn't have Shivnya's contact number to check on her whereabouts. As Shivnya entered, she saw the family sitting in the hall, waiting for her. Ridhimaa came up to her and asked, ""Beta is your health is okay ?"
Shivnya nodded, but Ridhimaa pressed, "don't lie to me , I can see it by your face ."
In a firmer tone, she added, "Go and change into some comfortable clothes. You don't have to wear sarees at home." Shivnya nodded and went to change.
A little while later, Abhimanyu entered and asked, "Maa, haa Shivnya came ?"
"Yes, she has just arrived. Beta, I don't think she is well. You go and take care of her," Ridhimaa said.
Abhimanyu nodded and went to their room to check on shivnya.
ABHIMANYU'S POV
"Shivnya, are you okay?" I asked. She nodded.
"Are you sure? Did anything happen at the office?" I asked again. She shook her head and said, "Aap change kar lijiye. Phir dinner bhi karne jana hai. Sab wait kar rahe hain."
( You change. Then we have to go for dinner. Everyone is waiting. )
I went to the closet to change. After a while, we came downstairs for dinner. We were eating when Maa suddenly said to Shivnya, " Eat something child" She nodded, and I added, "Shivnya, eat."
I hate this vegetable that's prepared today. I didn't have a proper breakfast, missed lunch because of meetings, and now this... yuck, she thought.
" I don't feel like eating anything " she whined.
"Why? Did you eat something outside?" I asked. Shivnya shook her head. Our conversation didn't go unnoticed, but no one interrupted. After dinner, we went to our room. I tried to start a conversation, but Shivnya wasn't interested, so I didn't push it. Eventually, we both went to sleep. shivnya took some sleeping pills and slept for a few hours, but then struggled to sleep again.
She noticed I was sound asleep. Feeling hungry and unwell from not eating much during the day, shivnya got up, took a water bottle, and went to the balcony. She drank water and looked at the sky.
In my sleep, I noticed shivnya was not beside me. I assumed she had gone to the bathroom. After waiting for a while and not seeing her return, I decided to check on her. Upon checking the bathroom and other parts of the room with no sign of her, I discovered the balcony gate was open. Finding shivnya sitting on the balcony and drinking water, I went to her.
Shocked, I sat beside her. The weather was chilly, the wind was blowing, and her open hairlocks were dancing. She looked beautiful.
"Neend nahi aa rahi hai?" I asked. She hummed in response.
( can't able to sleep )
"Dawai lene ke baad bhi?" I asked again. She hummed again.
( after taking medicine also )
"What happened , Shivnya ?" I asked. She gave a fake smile and shook her head, but suddenly her stomach rumbled.
"Are you hungry " I asked. She shook her head.
" What happened , Shivnya ?" I asked again. She gave another fake smile, and her stomach rumbled again.
"I think your stomach and brain are saying different things," I said with a chuckle. Suddenly, she came near me, rested her head on my shoulder, and wrapped her hands around my biceps. Her sudden reaction made me panic.
"what happened , shivnya?" I felt her hands were warm. I touched her forehead and realized she had a fever.
"shivnya, you have fever " I said, but she didn't respond.
"shivnya, come. first eat something then take some medicine and then you will sleep" I said.
"I don't want to eat anything" she replied quickly.
"but why ?" I asked, looking into her eyes. She looked away and said in a stern voice, " i said it na."
"shivnya, you barely ate at the Rajvanshi mansion, and here you haven't had a proper meal even once," I said calmly. She remained silent. "say it na baby ," I insisted.
"Hume sach nahi batana, aur aapne jhooth kehne se mana kiya hai," she replied.
( I don't want to say the truth and you warned me not to say lies )
"Okay, so I am going to bring some food. Till then you decide what to do. But you are going to eat a proper diet from today, and that's final.," I said and went to the kitchen to get some food.
Should I tell him why I don't eat much food in front of people? Should I tell him how that woman used to treat me in my childhood, just because... she thought.
"Lijiye, khana shuru kijiye," I said, placing the plate in front of her.
( here start eating food )
"Hume nahi khana hai," she said annoyingly.
( I don't want to eat )
"Ya toh aap hume sach bata dijiye ya yeh khana khana hoga," I offered her an option. She looked at me with a defeated look and took a bite of food. I stopped her and said, "You really don't have to eat it , just because of my stubborn behavior. If you don't want to share things, it's okay. If you want to eat, then only eat food."
( either you have to eat this or tell me the truth )
She kept the bite down and, with a sad face, said, "It's not that I don't want to tell you. The thing is, you won't believe me and might laugh at me."
"No, jaan, I would never laugh at you, and I will always trust what you say. But at least tell me what's bothering you, why you don't have a proper meal," I said, trying to console her.
She came closer, rested her head on my shoulder, wrapped her hands around my biceps, and started to narrate the story. "When I was seven, I loved to eat. I was very chubby. Sometimes I even stole food from my brother's share. My dadi didn't like my behavior. One day, she locked me in a dark room and warned me to eat less because I was chubby and fat. She said nobody would like me if I were fat and that I shouldn't steal from my brothers. Otherwise, she would punish me daily. After that day, I started eating less, but the fear of being judged always stayed with me. That's why I don't eat much in front of people."
"How could she do this to you? Didn't you tell anyone?" I asked, and she shook her head. My blood boiled hearing this. How could her grandmother do that? She had destroyed my jaan's life. I wouldn't spare that woman.
"Jaan, here no one will judge you. And if they do, that's their problem, not yours," I tried to console her.
"I know, but some people's opinions matter to me. The family's opinions matter," she said, and I understood that she feared my family would judge her like her grandmother did.
"My family would love to see you eat as much as you want. Promise me, jaan, from today onwards, you will eat a proper diet and not worry about anyone's judgment," I said, and she nodded.
"Now eat this, because I don't mind my wife getting full more, I will love more than anything seeing you getting filler" I said, with a gentle smile and creassed her cheeks , her eyes have shine and as a said a soft chuckle left from her mouth and she said
" How can you always manage to find my solace in chaos?? "
I was still creasing her cheeks and said " You will get to know that later first eat food " placing the plate in front of her.
"No," she said, surprising me.
"Why?" I asked.
"I don't like this vegetable," she whined like a baby, and I chuckled.
"Jaan, you should have told me earlier. I'll get you something else," I said.
"There's no need," she replied.
"Why?" I asked.
"When I was in the hostel, I didn't eat this vegetable either. I would just eat plain roti. I have experience in this," she said with a smile. How could she endure this? My woman is so strong. Despite all she suffered, in her professional life, no one would guess she has been through so much.
"No, jaan, I'll get you something else," I said and stood up, but she held my wrist and made me sit down.
"Let it be. Look at how beautiful the weather is," she said.
We both sat and enjoyed the weather while she ate a roti. After a while, I said, "Now go to sleep, or your fever will get worse."
We both went inside the room and slept.
