ABHIMANYU`S POV
As the first light of dawn filtered into the room, I stirred from my sleep and awoke to the sight of Shivnya beside me. The realization that I had finally married the love of my life filled me with an overwhelming sense of joy. She was mine, solely mine. Seeing her sleeping peacefully, like a delicate cocoon, brought a tender smile to my face. She was sleeping on the edge of the bed, perhaps still hesitant to come closer. I understand.
I gently crawled over to her and placed a soft hand on her waist, pulling her towards me. She was in a deep, untroubled slumber. As I drew her nearer, her shirt slipped slightly, revealing a small, dark bruise on her left cleavage. I knew it hadn't been there yesterday. I made a mental note to ask her about it later. Tenderly, I covered her with the blanket and left for the gym.

When I returned to our room, the bed was empty, and the blanket neatly arranged. The sound of running water came from the bathroom. I sat on the bed, waiting patiently for Shivnya to emerge.
After half an hour, I knocked on the door. "Shivnya, come out soon. I need to change too."
"Thank God you're here! Please, come inside," she called out, slightly exasperated. I entered to find her in her shapewear and blouse, which clung to her figure beautifully.
"What's wrong, Shivnya?" I asked gently.
"I'm trying to drape this saree, but..." she trailed off, frustrated.
"It's not happening?" I guessed, seeing her struggle with the pink tissue saree.
"Yes," she admitted, a hint of embarrassment in her voice.
"I'll call Mom or Chachi," I suggested.
"Nooo, nooo!" she protested vehemently.
"Why not?" I asked, puzzled.
"Actually, I can't face them after what I did yesterday," she said, guilt clouding her eyes.
"But you didn't do anything wrong, and Mom won't think anything of it," I tried to reassure her, but she was adamant.
"Even so, please don't call anyone. I'll try to fix it," she insisted.
"You don't have to stress about it. I know how to drape a saree," I said with a smile.
She frowned, her curiosity piqued. "How do you know?"
"Shall I show you?" I asked, and she nodded. I took the saree from her and started making the pleats.
"Tell me," she demanded, her annoyance making her even more adorable.
"Actually, my father used to help my mother, and my chachu too. They taught us how to drape a saree so we could help our future wife," I explained, expertly adjusting the pleats.
"Ohhh," she murmured, clearly impressed.
"Yes. Now tuck these pleats inside," I instructed, handing them to her.
"Close your eyes," she ordered. I closed my eyes, amused by her newfound assertiveness.
She tapped my shoulder, signaling me to open my eyes. "And now, this leftover saree will be pinned on your shoulder," I explained.
"Can I?" I asked softly.
"No, I'll do it myself. You can use the bathroom; I'll get ready outside," she said, taking the pallu from my hand and leaving the room with a graceful, confident stride.
As I watched her go, my heart swelled with love and admiration for the woman who had become my wife.
SHIVNYA`S POV
I stepped outside, adjusting my saree. I had refused him because of the marks. I needed to stop hurting myself; these marks could one day be the end of me. I applied vermillion to my hairline, a touch of blush, nude lipstick, and a small bindi. I adorned myself with oxidized earrings and bangles, hoping to mask my inner turmoil.
The room was in disarray, with his gym towel, protein shaker, and clothes strewn about. I began to clean up, trying to find solace in the routine. As I worked, Abhimanyu emerged, dressed in a pristine white kurta and pajamas. His hair was perfectly set, and his moustache and beard were impeccably groomed. He looked stunning, the white fabric accentuating his handsome features. I couldn't help but admire him silently. Suddenly, he came near me and asked, "Shall we?" I nodded, and we left the room together.
Abhimanyu led me toward the main hall, his presence comforting yet intimidating. I walked beside him, nerves tingling at the thought of facing his family. Memories of past punishments from my dadi loomed over me, casting a shadow on my thoughts.
We entered the hall, and Abhimanyu stood protectively in front of me, his strong frame shielding my petite figure. "Beta, Shivanya hasn't woken up yet?" his mother asked. I peeked from behind him, seeing everyone gathered at the dining table.
"Maa, she's right here," he said, searching for me. I clutched his kurta, letting him know where I was. He chuckled softly, stepping aside to reveal me. "Here is your bahu, Maa."
"Beta, why were you hiding? Come and have breakfast. You have your first rasoi ritual to perform after this," Aunty said warmly. Abhimanyu held my wrist gently, guiding me to a chair. Yuvi and Tanmay greeted me with cheerful "Hi, Bhabhi," but I couldn't muster a reply, still embarrassed from the previous day.
Servants began to serve the food. I kept my eyes on my plate, avoiding everyone's gaze. The food was delicious, but my dadi's cruel games haunted me, making it hard to eat much.
"Is the food not to your liking, beta?" Amrita Aunty asked. I finally looked up, meeting the eyes of the family. I shook my head quickly.
"Beta, please be comfortable. This is your family now," Riddhimaa Aunty said kindly. I nodded, appreciating their understanding. Abhimanyu's father then started a conversation.
"So, Shivnya, what kind of business are you in?" he asked.
"Uncle, actually... I am in the hotel business," I replied nervously, feeling all eyes on me as Abhimanyu continued eating.
"Oh, so when did you start?" he inquired further. I responded, noticing the surprise on Abhimanyu and his cousins' faces.
"When I was 21," I said.
"Really? You started very early. But I recall you were in London at that time," Uncle remarked. I don't even remember my own father has ever asked me about my business
"Yes, Uncle. I first established my business there and then came here to expand it," I replied confidently. For the first time, someone showed genuine interest in my achievements.
"Ranveer, let her eat. It's her first day, and you're already talking business," his mother chided gently.
After that, we all resumed our meal. I made sure to eat something, recalling the high-dose tablet I had taken yesterday for anxiety and panic attacks. I knew it could lead to fever if I didn't nourish myself properly.
Abhimanyu's presence beside me was a silent reassurance, a promise that perhaps this new chapter of my life could bring the peace and love I so desperately sought.
Aunty called both of us and made me sit on the sofa. She said, "Beta, waise toh ye rasam hum apne saare rishteydaaron ke samne karte hain shaadi ke waqt, par abhi toh koi nahi hai, toh hum hi log kar rahe hain." As she spoke, she took some clothes and two jewelry boxes and placed them in my lap. I was confused about what was happening. Then, his chachi came and did the same. I was trying to manage everything in my lap when suddenly, Abhimanyu came over and gently took everything from me, placing it in his lap. His mother and grandmother looked at us with smiling faces. After that, his grandmother came and placed three big and heavy jewelry sets and a golden coconut in my lap, explaining their significance.
( child , we usually perform this ritual in front of all our relatives during the wedding, but right now no one is here, so we are doing it ourselves.)
"This is a gold coconut, which symbolizes that your future child will be as precious as this gold coconut, hard from the outside but soft from the inside. This coconut also symbolizes your womb, in which a sweet fruit will develop," she explained. I listened carefully, feeling a bit overwhelmed by the talk of a baby. Abhimanyu looked at me with raised eyebrows, and everyone chuckled at this.
His mother then said, "Abhimanyu, ye sab kamre mein rakhwa do. Sambhal ke itne, hum next rasam karte hain."
" Beta abhimanyu ne , apna naam dhoondha apki mehndi mein?" his dadi asked. I kept quiet, feeling nervous.
( child, did abhimanyu find his name in your heena )
All the family members were looking at me, and suddenly, Abhimanyu came back, sensing my discomfort. He asked, "What happened? Why are you looking at her like that?"
"Actually, we were asking if you guys performed the mehndi rasam or not?" Amrita aunty said. Abhimanyu looked confused and asked, "Which mehndi rasam?" Radhika aunty sighed and explained, "In this rasam, you have to find your name in Shivnya's mehndi." Abhimanyu sat beside me, and his mother said, "Start finding the name."
He took both of my hands and started searching. A small smile appeared on my face as he looked more carefully, moving my bangles aside to see better. From behind, his cousins teased, "Bhaiya, lagta hai aap nahi dhoondh paayenge apna naam bhabhi ke haath mein."
Abhimanyu pleaded with his eyes, and I subtly pointed to my ring finger, giving him a hint. He finally found his name and shouted, "Here it is!" All the family members chuckled and said, "Yeah, we saw how 'easily' you found it without any help from your wife."
Then, Tanmay said, "Maa, ab bhabhi bhi dhoondengi bhaiya ke haath mein " I looked at Abhimanyu, and he showed me his hands with my name written on them.
( maa nke sister-in-law will alsi find her name )
His mehndi was a dark shade of maroon. In the background, Amrita aunty and all the ladies were chuckling, while his aunt said, "Beta, uska koi fayda nahi hai. Usne apne haath mein mehndi mein sirf tumhari bhabhi ka naam likhwaya hai."
( child there is no need to perform that because your brother only wrote her name in his palm as the heena )
His dadi came near me, caressed my head, and said, "Humare dono bachon ke haath ki mehndi ka rang dekho, kitna dark hai. Kehte hain, jitna dark color hota hai mehndi ka, utna hi zyada uska pati usse pyaar karta hai." A faint smile appeared on my face. I knew it was all illogical, but somehow I found it cute.
( Look at the color of the heena on our children's hands; it's so dark. They say the darker the mehndi, the more her husband loves her )
"Aacha, ab ring waali rasam," Radhika aunty said. Both of us sat in front of each other. They took the ring from my hand and ordered the servant to bring a bowl. The servant came with a large bowl filled with milk and rose petals.
( Now the ring ritual )
She dropped the ring in and asked us to find it. His cousins and my mom and dad came to my side, and Tanmay said, "Bhabhi, aapko jeetna hai. At least wo aapki toh sunenge."
( sister-in-law you have to win, at least he will listen to someone )
Abhimanyu said, "I think I am the one who will give you that pocket money." Tanmay and Yuvraj laughed and said, "Bhaiya, ab toh sab bhabhi ka hai. Hum bhabhi se lenge." Everyone laughed, and his dadi said to start the ritual.
( bhai now everything belongs to sister-in-law we can take from her if you won't give )
Both of us looked into each other's eyes and started to find the ring in the bowl. A smirk appeared on his face as our hands touched. He held my hand and looked at me with a smirk. Even after continuously trying, he didn't let go of my hand. His mother looked at him with narrowed eyes and said, "Abhimanyu, leave her hand. At least let her do this rasam." Everyone laughed, but he didn't let go of my hand. After a minute, he finally did.
We looked into each other's eyes again. His black eyes were captivating, like black holes in which one could get trapped and never come out. Our eye contact and my thoughts were interrupted by the roar of cheers. I found the ring near my hand, and I believe he had pushed it towards me. I took the ring and showed it to everyone.
His cousins and mom and dad cheered for me, and Abhimanyu smiled at them and me. Dadi said, "Shivnya, you will have the upper hand in your marriage." Everyone smiled and left. Abhimanyu came near me and said, "Wifey, you will not only have the upper hand in this marriage, but you are also the queen of my heart. You will rule my heart, my soul, my body, and my life. You will rule me, my highness."
Blood rushed to my cheeks, turning them crimson red. This man never missed a chance to compliment me. He saw the blush on my cheeks, smiled, and left.
